Snowbird Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 (edited) Hey guys, I have a really tough situation here I need help solving. I have a interior cockpit side console assembly for my aircraft I am working on. When I extract this console to edm (I have the UV map done with it also) with no texture applied to it the resulting EDM is 309 kilobytes in size. All good so far. However, when I then take my texture (1.2meg .png (or DDS at 4 meg) I have tried both) and apply it to the console and make cool the texture, the resulting edm extraction is a mind blowing 66 meg! I also check that 2-sided was not checked in the 3D Max material editor. The edm still remains small with the UV texture map being applied. The issue seems to be when I make cool and extract it is when it grows to a huge size. What the heck is going on here? Am I missing a setting here somewhere that could be causing this? Thanks for your replies. Tom Edited January 29, 2021 by Snowbird
joey45 Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 At a guess the EDM is holding more information so the size increases. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
