4c Hajduk Veljko Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 (edited) I'll be there next Saturday. There is one thing I want to see live. That is: SONEX Few days ago I received SONEX info package including the "Right Seat with Tony Spicer" video. Some prety cool stuff. You definately need to stop by the museu and see all they have there. Onmy recent visit I spent several hours there. http://img212.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img0806kx8.jpg Edited July 27, 2008 by =4c= Hajduk Veljko Thermaltake Kandalf LCS | Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R | Etasis ET750 (850W Max) | i7-920 OC to 4.0 GHz | Gigabyte HD5850 | OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 2000 | 2 X 30GB OCZ Vertex SSD in RAID 0 | ASUS VW266H 25.5" | LG Blue Ray 10X burner | TIR 5 | Saitek X-52 Pro | Logitech G930 | Saitek Pro flight rudder pedals | Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
4c Hajduk Veljko Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I've just returned from Oshkosh Air Venture show. This is my first time in Oshkosh and I was amazed with the number of airplanes participating as well as all the flying events. I was really impressed with F-22 slow, high AOA flying! Raptor can turn really fast and tight. Raptor's flying display was almost as good as some of the Flanker's. ;) I wish I can go to MAKS 2010 ... Vekkinho Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 (edited) Ooomph...those SONEX birds are pretty damn ugly! I believe it's a great aircraft but man, it's ugly yellow duckling! Did you take any pics at Oshkosh?! MAKS 2010?!! I believe it's MAKS 2009 or perhaps I missed something?!! Edited August 3, 2008 by Vekkinho [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
mvsgas Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 The best way to experience EAA Airventure is by volunteering in one of the section there like west ramp (they set up all the displays) or war birds etc. I volunteer in west ramp in 1998 and 1999 and it was awesome. Got to see so many amazing aircraft. Got to recover or help work on F-15, A-10, T-38, Concord (1998 ), I help move and set up C-141 "Hanoi Taxi". AV-8B, NASA F-18 ect. It is a real fun time. I camp there and because I was volunteering I was there a extra week to help set up the displays and the aircraft. There where so many cool people from around the world. In 1999 I got to go there TDY from the 310th FS. We brought two jets and was a lot of fun. That year was very hot and standing in uniform next to the jet all day got tiresome. People would come to me (specially the kids) and would like and autograph from me until they realize I was not a pilot, then they normally just walk away :D and had no interest in what I had to say anymore. For some reason the thing I remember the most are the little details, like the guys that yodel in the morning around 7 o'clock. First time I heard that I laugh my butt off. If you like aircraft it is a very fun place. One of this days I have to go back. It is hard to go there for the time I want to go. I like to be there for set up and every thing, one of this days I hope. To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

4c Hajduk Veljko Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Ooomph...those SONEX birds are pretty damn ugly! I believe it's a great aircraft but man, it's ugly yellow duckling! He, he, he ... You are right. Sonex is not the prettiest airplane out there. However, for the price tag of little over $25 000, Sonex can deliver basic aerobatic capabilities (+6g, -3g) and cruise at speeds of 130mph at sea level on 80hp VW engine conversion. Pretty impressive huh! My problem is that with my height of 6’ 1” and 256 lbs, I am heaving difficult time to fit in that little cockpit! When I closed the canopy, my had was touching it! mvsgas Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Man, I need to go this year, last time I was there was 1999. We had a lot tornado warning that year. Zad Fnark Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I've heard from someone who works the warbird flightline that an A6M2 and an Fw-190 may be there this year. I live like 10 miles away, so it's easy to drop in. There's serious road construction going on in Oshkosh this year, so we'll see how that works.
