chumpeagle Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Hello. I have an old Microsoft Sidewinder 2 force feedback joystick. I’ve been playing the F-15c for a while and now trying the A-10A. However, the joystick “centre” is pulled to the right meaning I have to hold it into the centre or the plane rolls. If I go back to the F-15 it is fine, then back to A-10 it is pulling again. Any tips what might be causing this? i7-13700k | nVidia 3080 Ti | 64GB RAM VKB MCG Ultimate stick with old Sidewinder FFB2 as well | Warthog Throttle | TrackIR FC3 | F/A-18C | F-5e | Harrier | KA-50 | Spitfire

chumpeagle Posted March 8, 2021 Author Posted March 8, 2021 Thanks for the tip MAXsenna. However, that just swaps the issue to the other axis so I no longer pull to the right but instead my nose is being forced down. It's strange as it works perfectly with the F-15c. i7-13700k | nVidia 3080 Ti | 64GB RAM VKB MCG Ultimate stick with old Sidewinder FFB2 as well | Warthog Throttle | TrackIR FC3 | F/A-18C | F-5e | Harrier | KA-50 | Spitfire
MAXsenna Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Thanks for the tip MAXsenna. I'm sorry that didn't work. It always works for me, and like I wrote. I have to do that with every module I'm gonna use it for. And I always swap both axis as that was the recommendation I read the first time. Love this stick, my third came in the mail today... Can you compare the settings with the F-15 settings perhaps?Cheers! Edit: I will check my settings tomorrow (well, later today). Check that you don't have any conflicting axis that you all ready have solved for the F-15. I just received a new collective, and it messed up EVERY module. But it was easily fixed. I'm half way through. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk
chumpeagle Posted March 9, 2021 Author Posted March 9, 2021 Thanks will have more of a play with different settings. Everything so far just seems to move the problem rather than fix it. It only seems to be the A-10A that has the problem as well. So far I have also used the SU-25, F-15 and F/A-18 (so a mix of FC3 and a modern one) and they are all perfectly fine. Jump back into the A-10A and it's all over the place again! Very odd but seems very specific to that plane. I shall try a few more things or otherwise it is time to bite the bullet and invest my time into the F/A-18, I just wanted to try another "simple" ground attack plan first to get familiar with the concepts (and mess around with the A-10 cannon ). 1 i7-13700k | nVidia 3080 Ti | 64GB RAM VKB MCG Ultimate stick with old Sidewinder FFB2 as well | Warthog Throttle | TrackIR FC3 | F/A-18C | F-5e | Harrier | KA-50 | Spitfire
chumpeagle Posted March 10, 2021 Author Posted March 10, 2021 The best and most workable I seem to get is by swapping the axis. It's kinda strange because if I leave everything default my stick is forced over to the right and it causes my plane to roll heavily to the right. However, if I swap axis my stick is forced forward, but it doesn't see to put me into a dive in the same way it put me into a roll before. Very odd. Anyway, I find it almost usable like this because the only problem it gives is I don't have much room left to push my stick forward to actual lower my nose quickly. However, when flying you tend to only need to make finer movements that way anyway, rarely do you need to push your nose down hard. Therefore I'm going to try flying like this for a bit, especially as CFRAG has just released some training missions! 1 i7-13700k | nVidia 3080 Ti | 64GB RAM VKB MCG Ultimate stick with old Sidewinder FFB2 as well | Warthog Throttle | TrackIR FC3 | F/A-18C | F-5e | Harrier | KA-50 | Spitfire

Have you had a look at the controls indicator overlay? The stick is supposed to have a very short throw forwards it seems. Also, I need to trim a lot though.I hope you find a working solution.Cheers! chumpeagle Posted March 10, 2021 Author Posted March 10, 2021 Thanks MAXsenna for your help. I'm not sure what you mean by the controls indicator overlay. I found a command saying I should hit R Ctrl Enter for this but it didn't seem to do anything. Anyhow, having a short throw forward is what I am experiencing now, so if that is how it's meant to be then sounds like I am good and it's working as expected now. Great stuff and thank you. i7-13700k | nVidia 3080 Ti | 64GB RAM VKB MCG Ultimate stick with old Sidewinder FFB2 as well | Warthog Throttle | TrackIR FC3 | F/A-18C | F-5e | Harrier | KA-50 | Spitfire

Great stuff and thank you.Correct, that one. It should bring up an overlay that will show you exactly where your controls are "pointing". In case of the A-10A it will open in the lower right corner (just tested) by default, but it will be very dim. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk 1
chumpeagle Posted March 10, 2021 Author Posted March 10, 2021 I see the controls indicator now and I see what you mean by it having a forward throw by default. It's all working as it should be and I've ha a few flights now so consider this problem solved! Thanks for all your help MAXsenna, it's hugely appreciated. i7-13700k | nVidia 3080 Ti | 64GB RAM VKB MCG Ultimate stick with old Sidewinder FFB2 as well | Warthog Throttle | TrackIR FC3 | F/A-18C | F-5e | Harrier | KA-50 | Spitfire
