Arink429 Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 (edited) Hi. It's known that under Cyclic Operations each squadron has its assigned holding altitude. But what happens if one of the lower levels is vacated? May the flight descend to 2000 ft before commencing or it's allowed to start descending to 800ft from the assigned altitude? Same for intermediate levels: If one altitude is vacated because its squadron is not flying the current event, may one flight descend to the most lower level vacated once holding on the stack? Other question: the 2000ft stack is also assigned for a sqdn. or is it reserved for depart the stack? Example: 3 sqdns on the event: assigned altitudes: 4000, 6000 and 8000. Once all of them hold over the stack at their altitudes, may the 4000 start descending to 2000, the 6000 to 3000 and the 8000 to 4000 before departing? or what is the procedure in this case? Thanks. Pieterras Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 (edited) He Man, I have explained all this in detail in here: If a lower level is vacated. you will make the stack collapse and will therefore descend to that lower level before commencing. HOWEVER you can only descent between position 3 and 1 If one of the altitudes is not occupied because the squadron is not flying this event, Then this would have been noticed in the airplan beforehand. One of the Squadrons that normally stacks higher would likely take the lower available level and this will all be arranged before before they even launch of the deck, by passing by other squadrons ready rooms, shaking hands etc ... THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, but is perfectly possible. 2000 is also reserved for a squadron, or likely 2 squadrons as normally each level is taken by 2 separate flights separated by opposite places in the stack. Your last example wouldn't make much sense.. in that case it would likely be 2 squadrons stacking at angels 2 and 1 at angels 3. again all arranged beforehand by studying the airplan... Have a read in my cyclic ops document and send me a PM if you still have questions Hope that helps ! 3 hours ago, Arink429 said: one flight descend to the most lower level vacated once holding on the stack?
