Well, I'm soon to be up and running thanks to Hitman giving his old X52 to me.

I am having issues with mapping the control system, mainly the sliders. Buttons I can do but the .PDF manuals are vague about more advanced settings.

Ideally I'd like to use the precision slider for radar range control but I have no idea how to do it. SOOOO.... my usual solution to a problem like this is to see someone else's programming in another profile and simply cut and paste it into mine. The problem is that I can't find a single NON *.DAT Lomac FC profile out there!!

All of them are *dat version which, Hitman so eloquently explained was "taken out behind a shed and had its brains blown out."

I'm detail-oriented and thus a real pain in the ass. I don't leave the ground unless my avionics are JUST LIKE I WANT THEM. The good news is that you all know that I learn fast.

So....

we can either:

1. teach me how to code for the sliders and rolling knobs or

2. point me where I can get new profiles that are compatible with the new editing system.

I'm grounded until my quest is complete. Don't let Hitman's generosity go in vain!

Ive always used .pr0 profiles for that stick. There are some profiles at lockonfiles for the X52, including 1 or 2 of mine. Also, if you check out the lockonfiles forums, BlackHawk made some good tutorials on axis mapping. I always used the axis maps in-game anyways. A bit of forewarning, most of them are profiled in conjunction with a TrackIr, like mine are. You will have to keep one hat switch as just that.

Im glad the stick showed up not damaged. :)

I use slider for Zoom personally, but you can set the X52 Axes (which includes slider) to the controls in game. There is one for MFD range, too.

Thanks again man. You're money is on the way August 31st. (explanation in your PMs) The webpage crapped out so I wasn't sure if I would get your email to send it to you!

I haven't found a single PR0 profile where people use the throttle ministick. Do you? I'd LOVE to use it to designate targets on the HUD and search for ground targets using the Mercury pod. I figure if YOU don't use the ministick then I should assign the function to one of the other hats.

You simply program your mouse (ps2 or usb mouse)...and to do that, all you need is the SST software. After that you can use the mouse on your desktop or in-game. A mouse is a mouse. Personally, I use my Razer Lachesis for the TDS movement.

Is this still a button function? If so- you just program each of the 4 directions with the corresponding key. The speed of the cursor was always OK on the X45...

I use the x52 Ministick for the TDS on fighters and the Shkval and Mav on their relevant birds.

I seem to remember it's an assignable axis in LOMAC .. I didn't haveto re-assign the axis to key strokes or anything.

It's good because it is sensitive and increases in speed the harder you push in a direction.

I'll fiddle around with it and see what I can come up with.

This would be best if it will accept the ministick as an axis. He should know- I'm not sure the X45 would do that...

yep, just checked..my X52 profile is set to "ministick X Axis = Mouse X" and "ministick Y Axis = Mouse Y"

In Lomac, the Input section, device set to "mouse" and "axis", TDS Slew Horizontal = Axis0 and TDS Slew Vertical = Axis1

All good

Okay... TDS is set.

Weird thing... I can assign the E rotator as the radar vertical slew but I can't assign my second rotator for horizontal. Weird!

Either way, I'm oh so happy to be flying again thanks to the replacement stick from Hitman. I love it. Working out great. Still don't have the profile ready yet but I have the basics down.

AHHH!! HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!

yeah, I could never get Horizontal slew to work either...in the end I use the E rotator (big one on top) to select between wide azimuth and narrow, the small rotator near the tumb selects "exepected range" values (in the russian birds) , the mouse wheel (up front of throttle) controls scan range settings , and I have to use keyboard to scan left or right, and the thumb slider controls Scan elevation.

To get around the horizontal slew you could set "bands" on the E rotator to trigger keyboard commands though, I've not bothered, as I dont know how it would work for the russian birds where the horizontal slew is done smoothly.

Yeah I think I'll use the throttle index finger switch to slew left and right.

Good to know the horizontal is something that I shouldn't try to fix.

This is where mapping the ministick with keypresses has an advantage over using the axis. The difference in TDC & radar scan cone is the shift key- which you can map to the pinkie switch. (or another- but this works best IMO)

Move ministick alone- TDC/MAV/Shkval cursor (all modes)

Pinkie (shift) & ministick- moves the scan cone. (A2A mode only)

I knew there was a reason that the use of the tdc axis was bugging me. I just couldn't remember what it was- so I didn't say anything.
