hi there,

I'm looking at getting myself set up on a VPN, with router setup options, I was wondering if I can still host the dedicated server over the router VPN or will I have to leave the server machine that is hosting the dedicated server off of the VPN for it to host correctly?

(in other words, if i do a router VPN will the server still host or will i have to set it up machine by machine and not through the router)

If the server is inside a VPN without a proper NAT/forwarding of port, no one outside VPN will be able to connect to the server. In addition to that, if the DCS server is connected using a VPN, all the people will have to pass thought a sort of "tunnel" between VPN public internet IP and your final PC that host the server, so it will add latency and risk to loose packet on the way for all the client will increase.

So, if the DCS server has the option to get on public internet directly, it's for sure the best options rather then create a VPN pass-through setup.

You could host your own VPN server with a web hosting provider, and this may actually be a few bucks cheaper a month than going with a dedicated VPN provider. You'll pay the hosting provider for server hosting and then install a VPN server on the server they've provided to you. Keep in mind that a dedicated VPN server is securely stored in a data center that is designed and optimized for delivering VPN services to a customer. At https://bestvpnprovider.co/how-to-find-a-ufc-stream-and-watch-it-securely/, you can find more information on a ufc stream and watch it securely.

I think it all depends on several factors:

-The quality of your Internet

-The quality of your VPN

-The quality of your network settings

And in general, if you use a VPN and try to host some server, it will work incorrectly and possibly with some lags because VPN consumes a lot of network traffic. You also need to have sufficient traffic for your own server to ensure its operation. As a result, I can say that I would never host a DCS server through a VPN in my life. This will only cause problems. And in general, I've been using only proxies. Lately, I've even wanted to buy residential ip for myself.
