JCofDI Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Certainly not the most critical issue, I know. However, I noticed that the Viggen has an automatic EQ effect applied to the tape player while the F-14 does not. Will this automatic EQ effect be added to the Tomcat as well? Or perhaps a special options toggle for those that would like it or not. See the video for a quick comparison using the same audio file (Song1.ogg from the Viggen walkman folder.)
CappuccettoRosso Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 In addition, in the Viggen the music from the tape player stops when you go in external views or F10, while in the F-14 the music continues. It would be nice if the music continued in the Viggen as well. I personally am not a huge fan of that EQ effect from the Viggen tape player but if it were an extra option it wouldn't hurt anyone
JCofDI Posted March 26, 2021 Author Posted March 26, 2021 Good point! I'm still terribly green in the Viggen so hadn't noticed the external effects on the tape player yet. I'm not sure where I'd ultimately fall on the EQ on/off divide if given the choice, I just found it strange that it had such different behavior between the two - wasn't sure if it would eventually change.
IronMike Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 We have no such plans to change anything on either atm. If it is wished that the Viggen tapeplayer continues to play in external views, we can look into that. As for EQ - personally I prefer without EQ much more, but that will be a thing of taste I guess. Maybe we can take a look after the Tomcat release at it. TOViper Posted April 1, 2021 Posted April 1, 2021 (edited) For me it just seems the Viggen is playing the song at a lower bitrate, nothing else. Standard Ferrometal tape instead of Chrome tape casette. I love it!
