Willie Nelson Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Can someone tell me what range and azimuth a DCS ILS is useful for? In Australia, ILS will realistically transmit for miles and miles although they are certified for 25nm and +/- 35 degrees of the final bearing. the reason I ask is that too often I am attempting to practice an ILS which ultimately does work but only at something approaching 13nm. I’m not sure if Caucus systems are battery powered or not but that seems pretty poor. I’d also be interested in knowing what wind is needed to force one on? i7700k OC to 4.8GHz with Noctua NH-U14S (fan) with AORUS RTX2080ti 11GB Waterforce. 32GDDR, Warthog HOTAS and Saitek rudders. Chump Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 (edited) The localizer is set to 15w (2.8m antenna), and the glideslope is set to 5w (4.3m antenna) in BeaconSites.lua. Maybe there is a fancy pilot that can do the math or knows off the top of their head. Edited March 25, 2021 by Chump

Flying in Australia, the ILS receivers will typically pick up GS and LOC signals much further than I'm seeing here. i7700k OC to 4.8GHz with Noctua NH-U14S (fan) with AORUS RTX2080ti 11GB Waterforce. 32GDDR, Warthog HOTAS and Saitek rudders.
