dporter22 Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 (edited) On pg 412 of Chuck's Guide it says that the bearing to the hooked symbol is 151 degrees, however since the hook mode selector is set to Hook/Own, that means 151 is the bearing from the hooked symbol to ownship, correct? Same on page 413, 239 is the bearing to ownship, correct? Edited March 23, 2021 by dporter22
RuskyV Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 (edited) The easy way to tell what the Hook is relative to is by looking at the arrow at the end of the hook line, this should help you orientate Something that helps me is to use "hookBull" so when you get a bulls eye calls from friendly AWACS you can get an estimate of where they might be in relation to your own jet. Its not accurate but it can help. Edited March 23, 2021 by 504Blade Added a little tip
RuskyV Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 (edited) Actually if you look at the compass rose it shows north is down to the left so this actually correct Edited March 23, 2021 by 504Blade initial comment wrong
dporter22 Posted March 23, 2021 Author Posted March 23, 2021 No, it should just say "151: Bearing to Ownship" and "038 Distance to Ownship".
RuskyV Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Yea he's used the word symbol interchangeably 3 times for all symbols displayed in his example, I guess this could be confusing however there is enough information to be able to extrapolate the overall meaning.
