Hey guys, I was wondering if you could give me some suggestion on a new LCD monitor. I’m in the market for around a 20-22 inch LCD screen with some really nice picture quality (something that won’t hurt the eyes). The main thing I’m looking for is the ability to adjust the height of the monitor. Most screens are stationed, but they could tilt, I want one that could actually go up and down. But I’m also open to any suggestions you guys make.

ps, if you want a good warranty, BenQ seems to be acceptable. read this link, and check out customer reviews and specs. It's a 24 inch, but I assume a 22 is available.

Yup!! here's a 22 inch. nice price, and good reviews!

thanks man, I think i found a fairly decent one. Its the Viewsonic VX2255wmb

The main reason is because it has height adjustability like i wanted.

It also has 3 ms reponse time.

And a couple features such as built in webcam and speakers (although I think they are kinda weak but I'll be using external speakers anyway)

All for $309, newegg sells for $239 so its a pretty good deal

SKF, Viewsonic ain't a bad idea. I hate names that usualy double the worthiness.

ATM I'm also considering a completely new rig and I ran into ViewSonic VX2835wm. It's a 28" widescreen with 1920*1200 display (full HD). It's pretty cheep for such diagonal and response of only 3ms but the only thing that bothers me is 800:1 contrast ratio.

hey Vek, from what little I understand about lcd monitors, you are right to be concerned with that low contrast number. The response time seems good, but that isn't the only deciding factor for me. Lower contrast seems to mean that blacks will not be rich in color, but rather grayed out. check out the fluff on this Acer 24 inch lcd with a dynamic contrast ratio of 50,000:1!!! No that I believe it, but it's nice reading. I did a search for "best gaming lcd monitor", and this is one hit.

Thanks Flyby!

Yeah, Monitor is perhaps the most important peripheral (IMHO) so I'd rather spend more cash on a proper monitor than on a stylish designer case or some BS like LED vents.

Having a killer GPU is nothing if monitor chokes it's eye candy!

I don't even think I'll choose a new GPU until I select a monitor first for exactly that reason!

Yeah, I used to build my rigs based upon a good a and long lasting MoBo in terms of compatibility with new CPU and GPU but this time I'll wait for DCS:BS and take it for foundation to build rig upon!
