dburne Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 I personally would not. Only thing I have changed on this 9900k build was the GPU for a 3090. Jumbik Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 No need to upgrade. The difference in gaming would be miniscule. 1 Do, or do not, there is no try. -------------------------------------------------------- Sapphire Nitro+ Rx Vega 64, i7 4790K ... etc. etc.
TGUN7 Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 Not worth the trouble or the cost. That CPU you are looking at needs a new motherboard as well. It's a socket 1200 CPU. And what will you get out of it? I believe absolutely nothing. All that money down the toilet when you could have just sent it to me. And you have a 2080 TI, AKA, a 3070. You are sitting really good, far above most everyone. You have good taste in gear. From your motherboard to your rudder pedals, DAW GONE! Really nice.
Lenux Posted April 2, 2021 Author Posted April 2, 2021 I have the RTX 3090 right now Thanks, guys, I'll keep the cpu, maybe next year, if.... Sn8ke_iis Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 Concur, all the data coming from Rocket Lake benchmarks is very disappointing. 9700K at 5.1 is perfect for DCS. I run my 9900K with hyperthreading off which makes it a 9700K with a little more cache. We're stuck waiting till Alder Lake and DDR5.
