Paco Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Seems I'm having an issue undesigating a target when using the ATFLIR. I have to put the pod into standby then it works. Undesignate works as advertised when using the Litening pod. Just me? Paco
maxTRX Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 If I want to undesignate and return to VVSLV: SCS to ATFLIR, press pinky (NWS) once to undesignate, press it twice quickly to return to following velocity vector.
Recluse Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 (edited) I believe I have noticed that the ATFLIR will REMAIN ground stabilized when you Undesignate rather than the Litening pod which goes to Snowplow. (Litening USED to do this) Target lock breaks but the pod stays looking at the spot. Not sure if this is AS INTENDED or an accident to be remedied. Have to try it in case I am not remembering correctly. Edited April 17, 2021 by Recluse

Recluse Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Just tried it. Not sure now since there is also the DRIFT bug that makes the INR mode drift all over the place rather than stay put as in Wags' video. I undesignate and it started drifting. Not following the VV, not SNWPLW, just drifting, so I don't know.

Not following the VV, not SNWPLW, just drifting, so I don't know. The way it works currently: When you undesignate and want to go back to VVSL you have to double click the pinky. Make sure your priority is on ATFLIR DDI. When you undesignate and want to lock something else or stabilize and slew: Press pinky once to undesignate and immediately bump the SCS switch toward the FLIR to put it in 'Area' stabilized mode. I don't know if there is a bug with INR or it has to fulfill some parameters to stay put. Sometimes I was able to keep it in INR rock steady and slew it at will, sometimes it drifted away but you can always catch it by bumping the SCS switch into 'Area'. You can slew in 'Area' with no problem. Designate or bump the SCS again to put it in AUTO.
Recluse Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 (edited) YES to your point about IMMEDIATELY SCS Right to SCENE TRACK. This is what I do. In most cases, I don't even bother to Undesignate, I just SLEW and re-designate. Only exception is if I want to use the MAVERICK seeker to fine tune a lock that isn't quite snapping to the point on the FLIR. In that case, UNDESIGNATE allows the Maverick sensor to be moved independently. (At least ONCE while it remains Ground Stabilized) But in WAGS' video on the ATFLIR, he initially does a TDC Depress (and HOLD, I believe) to SLEW in INR MODE. In the current implementation, under those conditions, more often than not, the FLIR aim point drifts all over, so I always go to SCENE Edited April 17, 2021 by Recluse
Paco Posted April 17, 2021 Author Posted April 17, 2021 Thanks. I realized what I was doing wrong. All very good points. Paco

In the current implementation, under those conditions, more often than not, the FLIR aim point drifts all over, so I always go to SCENE I still can't figure out when and why it happens. I did notice one thing though. I did a test using IR Mavs on static targets. When I slewed the ATFLIR and put the INR diamond on the target, designated the target by pressing TDC then SCS to the Mav, all looked good. After I fired the Mav and SCS'd to the FLIR again, moving the diamond to the next target caused it to drift. Instead of going to 'Scene', I quickly undesignated and pressed TDC again and the diamond was stabilized. I could slew it with no problems. Now, if I just stay on the FLIR DDI, I can move the diamond forever. It stays put when designating, moving again, re-designating, so... it's still a bit fuzzy for me.
