Hunter Joker Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 At least from 1000 feet and above I didn't see anymore water textures and waves and the color of the sea appear a bit darker. Have others noticed that? https://www.youtube.com/user/garaganotube
Qiou87 Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 There is already a fair few topics about the new water rendering. It is not specific to WWII. It is normal not to see waves from high altitude, unless there is a very strong wind (8 or higher). The color is indeed darker ; some don't like it, others defend it. Many things influence the color of the sea in real life, the light & the sky are major elements, the temperature, the depth, the sea floor, sediments in the water... I am glad the water isn't this "happy blue" anymore. I'm sure it can and will be refined further though. Joe1978 Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 With all due respect, I like the new update but even flying at an altitude of 200 feet, there is not a single trace of foam in the sea ... not a single white pixel. That in particular (always from my point of view) no matter how calm the wind is, its not very normal. Right now I have the feeling of flying over a lake instead of the sea. .
rayrayblues Posted April 25, 2021 Posted April 25, 2021 I agree that the water is a little too featureless. With a 10 kn wind there should be slightly higher waves and a few but not too many white caps. I do like the darker color though especially on the Channel, Caucasus and Normandy maps. When The Channel map first came out, one of the biggest complaints was that the water was "too tropical looking." The bluer and clearer water was perfect for The Persian Gulf though. If they could keep the clearer and more tropical water on PG and also the upcoming Marianas map and the darker water for the others, that would add to the immersion.
