I'm having issues with the K-14 sight. In situations where it should be dialed in properly, rounds go short. In situations where I expect rounds to go long, they go short. It's almost as if the sight is not computing lead, as all the manuals say it should be.

Targets are 190 A-8s. Wingspan dialed as close to 34' as I can get it.

Here I have distance dialed in properly, and expect rounds to go across his nose where the pipper is. Instead, they fall roughly where the red dot is.

Here is a bad sight picture. My gunsight is set to 1200' and he appears to be around 800~1000' or so. I expect my rounds to land long. Instead they are impacting his tail right where the reticle's lower diamond is.

Here is another bad sight picture. Gunsight set to 1200' and he appears to be around 600' or so. Again I expect rounds to go long, but instead they are impacting his wing root or fuselage near the cabin or engine.

Even flying straight and level behind a target with the pipper on his center mass, rounds frequently go below and hit his fuel tank or bombs instead. This is consistent behavior I have seen in 30+ hours of gunning Krauts and I can't figure it out. Am I mistaken in thinking that the gunsight calculates lead?

Now I feel stupid. Switch was off from mission start, but since the gyro sight was on I thought the gyro itself was also therefore on. The manuals need to clarify that as a cage/uncage switch as in the F-86, since "gyro sight on/off" means something else in practicality.
