NakedSquirrel Posted May 9, 2021 Posted May 9, 2021 Is there a way to map an axis as button presses without external software? I recently acquired the new VPC constellation which has an axis thumb switch. There are some planes I would like to use this for trim or sensor control, but I’m not sure if it’s possible to bind it this way. Modules: A10C, AV8, M2000C, AJS-37, MiG-21, MiG-19, MiG-15, F86F, F5E, F14A/B, F16C, F18C, P51, P47, Spitfire IX, Bf109K, Fw190-D, UH-1, Ka-50, SA342 Gazelle, Mi8, Christian Eagle II, CA, FC3
No1sonuk Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 It depends on the aircraft. For example, the P-51 can use an analogue axis for each of the trims by going to the "assign axis" screen on the controls setup. BUT, the A-10 doesn't have that option available. I think this is because the P-51 trims have "analogue" trim wheels, but the A-10's trim is the digital switch on the trim hat of the HOTAS.
Munkwolf Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 (edited) If you are open to external software, it's pretty easy to do. I use Joystick Gremlin to have the Warthog slider throw different button events at 0%, 20%, 33%, 50%, 66%, 80%, and 100%. Mainly to control the mixture lever in the P51 but use it for a couple of other warbirds, too. Or it might be possible to do in the VPC software? I used the VKB software to configure my MCG to have the analog hats work as an axis and throw buttons. Edited July 29, 2021 by Munkwolf
