When did the F/A-18C Hornet got Link 16 ?

The question is in the title.

I'm wondering to be able to make some missions with different capacities depending on the time.

Does Mission Editor restrict the use of Link 16 depending on the date ?

Thanks

Given that this is a 2007 hornet I doubt anything will be restricted by date.  I think the terminals were included in 2003-2004 but I'm not sure.  Before this, I believe the Hornets used Link-4.

Ok, I found year 2000 document planning the IOC on Hornet by 2003. Thanks 😉

Apparently no AIM-9X and JHMCS either before that year.

It’s incredible how much more effective the Hornet is with JHMCS, MIDS and the 9X. As often as we lump “4th Gen fighters” together, early Gen4 and recent iterations are worlds apart.

When I purchased the Hornet in DCS it was primarily for multi role and carrier ops capabilities; but now the thing that I can’t get away from is the SA and simplicity of fighting in the jet.

Anyway, tangent over. There are some great scholarly articles easily found on Google related to

the DL/MIDS integration into the Hornet.

Well, I tried to look for it, the only thing I found was a document for year 2000 stating it was planned for 2003.

Things from 20 years don't come up on top of request. And even with date filters on Google, not much ! 😅
