telepathiclove Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 I'm not sure if this is a job for the ED staff or one of you fans perhaps, but I think it would a big help if the game had some presence at Eurogamer. I suspect that ED plan on doing some promotion now that it is nearer release, and no doubt the game needs to be talked about on all the gaming websites. But there is a release dates page at Eurogamer where many people track various games for years. But Black Shark doesn't even have a spot on the list at all. http://www.eurogamer.net/releases.php So I wonder if an email to Eurogamer could get the game added to the list, and hopefully the link can explain a few things about the game. That site also has Eurogamer TV which has movies of games, and if Black Shark could get some movies in there, I think that would really help too. I would try to get the game in there myself but I'm super busy at the moment.
Verdungo Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 That site isn't that accurate anyway as it says that Sacred 2 is going to be released on 7th of November, although it has been already released in Europe and it will be released in North America on November 11th (according to Wikipedia).

I was already about to post something over at Giga, a German TV-show for console and PC-games, but I'd like something more substantial than a post in Russian, before I do that. If you post a link and get the latest news from February 27th, any outsider is turned down instantly. :noexpression: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

ED Team Groove Posted October 8, 2008 ED Team Posted October 8, 2008 As far as i know there are marketing plans for Europe. Well, let's wait for a official statement on the "western" release of the game. Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
telepathiclove Posted October 9, 2008 Author Posted October 9, 2008 (edited) That site isn't that accurate anyway as it says that Sacred 2 is going to be released on 7th of November, although it has been already released in Europe and it will be released in North America on November 11th (according to Wikipedia). Sacred 2 had a last minute delay. Read their official website. http://www.sacred2.com/en/news/show/detail/Release_Date_Update.html The Eurogamer page is more reliable than Wikipedia. The dates are constantly being updated, hence the up and down arrows next to everything, so that's why a lot of people use it as a reliable little guide for planning future purchases. As far as i know there are marketing plans for Europe. I should hope so too! Flight Sims used to be the bread and butter of PC gamers. Now it seems they are being forgotten in favour of RTS's, RPG's, FPS's, etc. I'd love to see that change :) Edited October 9, 2008 by telepathiclove
leafer Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Aside from MSFS, do gaming mags even review flight sims anymore? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
telepathiclove Posted October 9, 2008 Author Posted October 9, 2008 (edited) I don't see why not. I don't actually buy magazines any more, I just do everything online now, but I've seen flight sims mentioned on the big online gaming websites. They maybe skip any smaller ones, but the few big ones that come out from time to time get a review. p.s. One of my favourite gaming pages on the web, is a list of big exciting games due each year. (At the top right is hyperlinks to each year). If I remember right, there are 4 or more really nice looking flight sims mentioned in the 2009 page: http://adrianwerner.wordpress.com/games-of-2009/ p.p.s. Also in case anyone is interested, there is a game called Tom Clancy's HAWX which is an action flight sim due. It looks really stupid to me (it has a ridiculous Ye Haw! movie trailer), but it's interesting to see a big company and a big name having a go in the flight sim market. Although that is an action game and not a sim. Edited October 9, 2008 by telepathiclove
leafer Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Just thought since flight sims are far and few in between, it's pointless to have a dedicated sim section in periodicals nowadays. Well, hope BS shows up in PC gamer, etc. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
telepathiclove Posted October 9, 2008 Author Posted October 9, 2008 Yeah they probably don't have sim sections. There are still some good sims around though that seem to kind of fly the flag for simmers. IL2 seems really popular, and of course, LOMAC :) And that link above shows about 5 or so due next year. As far as I know though, there aren't any chopper sims besides BS, so this DCS thing really has it's own little niche :) I think what they are doing by making it more of a base to build on and add new flyables/usables is something that really lets it stand out too. I hope they really hype it to all the gaming sites/mags, because I think it is definitely worthy of it. I think most gamers would be really interested if they saw the movies and knew what it was all about.
leafer Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Couldn't agree more and I'm sure BS will find its way into several sites. I hope the bigger publishers will be able to (or even want to) squeeze in a review of something as niche as a 'Russian' attack helicopter between throng of FPS's. I have a feeling reviewers will only go ape-poo when the all American Apache is released. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

Them and me both lol :) Although after reading a bit about the Black Shark, I'm just as excited about flying that.
