Hello All!

With the upcoming OH-58D Kiowa Warrior module, I am going to start on a home cockpit build. I have a few pictures of the Rear Fuse panel that I bought many years ago. I'll post them below. I also have the OH-58D Technical Manual on CD, that I also bought many years ago. Based on the Fuselage station numbers, Waterline, and buttock line measurements, I believe we can come together and formulate a pretty good "guess-timate" of the overall size and dimensions of the interior cockpit. I'd like for this specific thread to be a joint venture by those interested to contribute what they think or might have on hand to help. Cheers!

Hi PaeRider,

nice project you want to start. I found a 3D model of the Kiowa at Free3D which does look like it has a reletively detailed interior of the pit also. It isn't very cheap (199$) but maybe a good startpoint for building a whole pit. Not all is exact in the model, but you can use it as a template for the cabin dimensions and the seats and panels. For the controls and the MFD's I think it is better to make them after photos or blueprints, cause they are to small and less detailed in this model.

fantastic job. I'm doing an Apache cockpit and have had a very difficult time finding good measurements. At his point my project is only trying to do the panels to scale but not the whole cockpit shape. I hope to get around to doing that later.

@Muther, as the keyboard panel uses DZUS fasteners it should be 5 3/4" or 146,05 mm width and according to the rules for DZUS rails [1] it's height must be a multitude of 3/8". For my keyboard panel that's 16 times 3/8" or 152,4mm.

You can guess the remaining dimensions from available pictures and or the panel schematic from the operators manual.

I'm not as far as Luiz Renault but here is my current version [2]. It's still work in progress and version V1 didn't work out for me.

@Jumper77A, you can export them directly from Onshape. As soon as the MFK is working i will upload the STLs to Thingiverse or Printables. You can also take a look at my GitHub project here cubicle/OH-58D-MFK. There you will find the KiCAD project for the Keyboard Matrix PCB. But be advised, i have not fully assembled this myself, so there might still be bugs.

This is awesome. Would you be willing to share the .stls? I have the same printer so it looks like it would all fit on the plate. Excellent work!

Appreciate it. I was more looking for the cockpit files that Luiz printed.
