Shartz Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 I recently swapped my motherboard/CPU (so effectively a new machine) and started with a fresh install of DCS, both production and open beta. In both, I've found my game starts with full left rudder depressed if I have the "sync controls on start" checked (which I would prefer to do for other controls). If I tap my pedals, they recenter and everything is fine. So ground starts aren't a big deal. Mid air starts, that's less than ideal. I had a similar issue in the past and it turned out that DCS had mapped rudder to my MFDs for some reason but that is not the case now. Nothing is visibly mapped to rudder or stick other than the correct items. I have gone through controls and disabled everything (stick, throttle, trackir, pedals, 2 MFDs, mouse, and keyboard) and this still happens which suggests something is telling DCS rudder is full left on game start that isn't any of those devices which is odd. I went in and calibrated the pedals - which did need a firmware update and fresh calibration - but that did not change anything. Any chance DCS set up the pedals with a bad calibration and maybe a fresh install or a removal/reinstall of the driver for the device would correct it? Again, once I just tap the pedals, they center and everything works exactly as it should. This happens in beta and production with all of the 6 or so planes I own. Thanks
Shartz Posted July 8, 2021 Author Posted July 8, 2021 In the event it helps anyone else, I was able to resolve this. By process of elimination, I narrowed it down to my stick being what was causing the issue. While nothing was mapped other than buttons and pitch/roll, I did "clear category" for the stick on the rudder axis even though nothing appeared there and that has fixed it. 4
kikimora Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Exactly the same issue was driving me crazy for months but thank to you it's over now :-)!
Platypus Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 Many thanks! Having my stick and rudder at full left deflection at mission start was driving my batty! Although unchecking "Synchronize Cockpit Controls With HOTAS Controls" solved that problem, my WinWing switches were not in sync at mission start. Your tip of clearing the axis assignment boxes, including the items that appears unassigned/blank solved this headache. Now I can fly with all my switches perfectly in sync.
Arikaj Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Bumping this topic because it helped me also. Got a new set of T.Rudders and once I got into the game, full left rudder was applied. I had zero mapping conflicts but the clear category button helped and fixed the issue. Pedals were calibrated beforehand.
