MBot Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Would it be possible to get a screenshot out of the cockpit of the Su-25T panned full back ? I wonder how much better the rear visibility of the T will be. IMO one of the biggest drawbacks of the Su-25 is the limited aft visibility. I keep getting cought by surprise by manpads very often ( and your wingman wont warn you about missles aimed at YOU ). Perhaps the Su-25T lets you check some more 6 :) And how is the flare supply of the Su-25T compared to the old on ? Perhaps some more ? Countinous dumping raises surviveability in high threat areas considerably, but time over target is short. Would be hand to have some more of them :) And a question to the beta testers. How is the IR jammer of the Su-25T, any noticable difference ? I am realy looking forward to fly this baby :)
VapoR Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 There is a new video at lockonskins.co.uk that shows the full panning in the 25t real well. Also, I think the views have been adjusted for all the flyables--the seat is set higher, and you also can look a bit further back than before.
SwingKid Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 The Su-25T's IR jammer is at the moment very effective, perhaps even overly so IMHO... it's difficult to judge without solid data about the real thing. Certainly ECM pods in Vietnam were similarly effective against SA-2. -SK
chp Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 "IMO one of the biggest drawbacks of the Su-25 is the limited aft visibility" It's visibility vs survivability isn't it? :) CAS is pretty hot most of times, so unlike Falcon and Apache pilots, these guys would definetly prefer good protection instead. It may come as a surprise, but "classic" Su-25 (non-humped version, except for two-seaters U/UTG) has got a "periscope". It's much like Spitfire's overhead mirror, but pilot (second pilot in case of two seaters) can rotate this one to check tail / target after attack. Have fun, chp
ALDEGA Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 The Su-25T rear view is the same as with the Su-25. You simply can't view much of the rear area. Compare the Su-25 cockpit with the cockpit of a MiG-29 or Su-27 and you'll know why.
MBot Posted January 18, 2005 Author Posted January 18, 2005 Thanks for the hint VapoR, I haven't noticed lockonskins has new videos. The better view looks promising, better than I have imagined. That will help to see at least some of those manpads. @chp Well I guess we follow different doctrines :) For me visibility means better surviveablity. I rather see the threat and evade than keep eating Stingers from the blind spot :) @ALDEGA Is the view from the Su-25T realy identical from the Su-25 ? The redesigned "hump" of the Su-25T looks like it has windows further back then the old one.
ALDEGA Posted January 18, 2005 Posted January 18, 2005 I should verify to be sure, but it does still "end abruptly" due to the aircraft's "hump". You'll need to check the cockpit mirrors and also rely a bit on the IR Jammer. And of course, preemptive use of the flares.
