FPS and Flairs.

Does anyone experience major FPS drop when using flairs? My frame rate drops from 30-40 to 5. Is this problem with my system or GF6800 GT not enough? Is there anything I can do to solve this?

Flares are extremely shader-heavy. With the current code, I think that it will be at least one more generation of graphics cards before we get reasonable FPS while using flares.

Hmmm yes they are intensive bud you shouldn't be getting such a drop with the card you have. I have the an X800 XT PE and the card doesn't blink with flares. My bet is that your CPU is bottlenecking your killer card?

Yes, what Quirk said! This LOMAN compatable flare improvement fix works great for me, been using it for as long as I can remember. I drop buckets of flares and my 9800Pro doesn't flinch....

Is this the one that deletes the shaders? If so I used it once but despite the FPS hit of the flares I can't stand'em without the shaders ...

Flares are sooo ugly without shaders, and its harder to see them at long distances...
