peirof Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 hi, Doubts about turns Another curiosity that arises to me is the rate of turn and the coordination of these. 01 - Rate of turn - A military pilot, in a military plane (the F18, because it depends on the plane I suppose), I don't think that all the turns he makes are made at 80º banked and 6 G ... What are the parameters he uses a military plane to turn. 01.01 - Are they established? 01.02 - When is a civil turn and a military turn? (For example, in a combat mission, I don't think all the turns are military, until the hot zone is reached ... I don't think they are used) 01.03 - What parameters follow? (Rate of turn, a bank, a few G's, a speed, ....) 01.04 - These parameters, are they established and are they required to be met? A military pilot on a civil mission, must he respect these parameters? 02 - Coordination of turns - Is there a system to coordinate turns? Cases: 02.01 - I am approaching the airport perpendicular to the runway (approx). How far in advance should I start turning to finish more or less aligned with the track ... so far either I miss it or I don't arrive. 02.02. On a route I am approaching a WP. What is the procedure? (arrive at the WP following the course that I am taking, and when I pass it, turn to the next one (with this method, I will not follow the route, since the turn will separate me from it), arrive at the WP following the course that I am taking, and when step turn to the next but correct my route to find the marked one, before reaching the WP start the turn, to finish aligned with the next section)
maxTRX Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 My advice is simple: play with it and observe. You'll get all the answers you need. Whether you do systematically, recording results, coming up with more questions, reading manuals available on the forums and testing some more, or just playing like a gamer... either way you'll get the feel. 2
Theodore42 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 There are lots of videos on YouTube of Hornet pilots training. I just imitate what they do. For the most part they seem to fly like an airliner, although really fast. Also, they probably fly with autopilot on as often as they can to reduce workload.
