upyr1 Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 I believe this is set in a database in DCS, however it would be nice if we could add an entry on the LAU file with a mod what would enable a mod to work with historical mode 3
Tippis Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Before everything was encrypted and hidden away, I remember seeing some unit definitions in the CoreMods directory that did this without actively changing the years.lua database file. Unless they completely changed how files are read and interpreted from that directory, it should still be possible to do so if you can just figure out the syntax (which may or may not have changed since 2.5.6). Given the general reciprocity between CoreMods and… well… mods, it should also be possible to do it “cleanly” in a user mod without having to alter core game files or directories. But that's an awful lots of “should”s and “if”s stacked on top of each other. And even if it did work, odds are that the faff wouldn't really be worth it since it's really just a unit browser toggle. It doesn't actually stop units from existing within the mission — it just makes it easier to only pick those that should be available at the time period. So it becomes kind of a “sure, why not” + “it may actually already exist” + “why bother” annoying combo. 1 ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. I know the point is to filer things out, but I just think it would be nice to do a Vietnam era mission with the A-4 and have it show up with the toggle turned on because of one little line in the LAU file.
