sniperpr1 Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 I use DCS in VR, with no problems with any module except the Viper. Whenever I use the Viper, and I move my head, even by a tiny bit, the look starts vibrating. I don't know if this is micro-stuttering, but I do know it is very uncomfortable. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
darkman222 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 What headset do you use? I use DCS in VR only (pimax) and did not have issues. You can install fpsVR from steam to see if the stutters come from low CPU frame times. Which means the CPU bottlenecking the GPU. There are aircraft which have a bigger impact on CPU frame time. But the F16 is none of them.
sniperpr1 Posted July 26, 2021 Author Posted July 26, 2021 I use a Pimax 5k XR The F-16 is the only one I have problems with. I run DCS in a SSD. Both Open Beta and Stable, but it happens in both of them. I even tried using my other SSD for Virtual Memory, but no improvement whatsoever.
darkman222 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Since when do you have the issue? I have issues since the 21.07. update. But no shaking instead the polygons of the F16 are partially drawn towards the virtual camera. I am still investigating when that happens. Does not sound like the two things are related though.
sniperpr1 Posted July 26, 2021 Author Posted July 26, 2021 When I move my head in any direction, the image vibrates up and down at a fast frequency. My GPU is an NVidia Geforce RTX 2070. The computer is an i7 8700 3.2 GHz, 16 GB RAM; 64-bit. As for since when, I couldn't say, as I haven't used the module until now.
darkman222 Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 I would consider it a general issue. But as you say it only happens in the F16. I cant think of anything that makes the F16 different from the other modules. As a desperate try to help: you might try if the tinted canopy or the clear one in the Viper options menu make a difference, but I doubt it. Well I guess you'd have to wait until other VR users get the same issue then...
sniperpr1 Posted July 28, 2021 Author Posted July 28, 2021 Today I found out that it actually happens in all other modules as well , so maybe there is something there that someone might think of. Anyways, thanks.
darkman222 Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 If its a fast stutter it could come from the CPU or GPU failing to deliver frames. But it rather sounds like an issue with your lighthouses. I sometimes get a slow pulsating back and forward movement. Like pulses in 2 second intervals. Happens when I put the headset down, but leave the headset and the tracking running. Not using the headset but leaving it running seems to break tracking over time.
sniperpr1 Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 it is actually a fast stutter. Does anyone think of a possible solution for this??
darkman222 Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Like I said. I never had that. Maybe someone will recognize what it is. You can use geforce experience and press alt+F9 when it happens. It saves a video in the videos folder under your user name. You could upload that. Sorry, I have no better idea.
sniperpr1 Posted July 30, 2021 Author Posted July 30, 2021 No worries, thanks, this pointed me in the right direction. 1
darkman222 Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Had the same issue today. Comes from when you start everything up but dont put on the headset immideately. Make sure that you keep moving the headset in front of the light houses as soon as you start pitool and steam vr. Issue can occur later too, if you leave the pimax running but not moving for a longer time. For example if you step away from it and leave it on the desk. Hope you fixed the issue on your end already.
sniperpr1 Posted August 4, 2021 Author Posted August 4, 2021 I'll check, thanks. I also performed a fresh install of the whole computer including the OS.
Surfleg Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 I have the same problem. Picture even vibrates when I put the headset on the table. Works fine with X-Plane. Did you find the problem?

It was the amount of RAM. Now I have 32 and it works smooth. Look the RAM used in Task Manager.DCS use up to 24Gb in some servers. Cheers
