phillik747 Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 When setting a board number in ME or in the mission resources, the number you enter for the board number shows incorrect on the livery. You have to enter the desired number backwards and add a zero. For instance entering 12 will show 10, but entering 120 will show 21.
lllcky Posted September 24, 2021 Posted September 24, 2021 @phillik747 The Tail Number you enter are actually the last three digits of the aircraft’s Bureau Number (BuNo), or the USN/USMC serial number. For tactical aircraft, the BuNo is unrelated to the aircraft’s “Side Number” (the one you see painted on the nose and flaps). The “Side Number” you see on the aircraft is the first the first BuNo digits reversed so that there is no obvious correlation. In your case: “210” entered in the Tail Number will give “12” on the aircraft’s “Side Number”.
phillik747 Posted September 24, 2021 Author Posted September 24, 2021 What doesn't work is the board number you want to display on the AC. The DCS behavior is not correct compared to other modules: F/A-18: https://gfycat.com/AgitatedBoilingCricket AV-8B: https://gfycat.com/GrimyPreciousAfricanwilddog
Draken35 Posted September 28, 2021 Posted September 28, 2021 @phillik747 from Chuck's guide: (which is what IIIcky posted) The way that the Marines use side numbers depends on the type of ship they are embarked. For aircraft carriers (CV's) they use 3 digits like you see in the Hornet... On LHA's, like the Tarawa, they use 2 digits. Why? I have no clue but in DCS, this is handled by module/aircraft and not based on the ship your are flying from... So the AV8B got the Marine/LHA method.
phillik747 Posted September 28, 2021 Author Posted September 28, 2021 @Draken35 Thank you for the clarification. 1
