barkozz Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 In first training mission of a Russian BS we (or at least I) can see cockpit hints displayed in english, I wonder if it's possible to change their language also in other missions ? Did someone investigate that possibility ?
Mad Dog 7.62 Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Its "Tool tips" on the setup menu.... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Gigabyte GA97XSLI Core i7 4790 @ 4.0 Ghz MSI GTX 1080ti 32 Mb RAM DDR3-2133 512GB SSD for DCS HP Reverb VR HMD Thrustmaster Warthog & MFG Crosswind
V1Rotate Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 He means the language in the missions I think. In which case it is kind of possible but its not ideal and is very time consuming. Load up the mission editor and then load the mission you want to translate. In the editor there is a mission briefing icon on the left hand side which will bring up the russian text. Cut and paste into an online translator and do the same again back into the mission briefing box. You can go further and translate the trigger point texts too, if you want. Have a look around you'll find it soon enough. Don't forget to save your mission and maybe backup the original before you do this. As I said, it is time consuming and the online translations leave a lot to be desired. It is a good way to see how missions are constructed though and maybe you will try and make your own missions :) i7 930@ 3.8GHz, Corsair H50-1, Asus P6X58D-E, 6gb Patriot Ram, ATI 5850 1 Gb, Antec 300, F3 1GB HDD, Corsair 24" Dell 2408WFP. barkozz Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 Mad Dog 7.62 is right - I meant "tool tips". Changing cockpit language to english didn't help in this case, at least in training missions but that's what it's all about... I've found another way - by comparing lesson_01.trk with lesson_02.trk I've noticed that first (with english tool tips) was missing, among other files, file named options.lua. There we can find this option: ["cockpitLanguage"] = "russian" which in this case is responsible for my inability to find switches needed to get the engines running :D :pilotfly:
V1Rotate Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 So if we change that to ="English" we get english cockpit labels? That would be great, would save a lot of time compared to waiting for the mouseover tooltip! i7 930@ 3.8GHz, Corsair H50-1, Asus P6X58D-E, 6gb Patriot Ram, ATI 5850 1 Gb, Antec 300, F3 1GB HDD, Corsair 24" Dell 2408WFP. barkozz Posted November 20, 2008 Author Posted November 20, 2008 Feel free to give it a try but imho this is only responsible for the tooltips and text representation of incoming messages or wingman menu, not entire cockpit.
V1Rotate Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 How do you open the TRK files? i7 930@ 3.8GHz, Corsair H50-1, Asus P6X58D-E, 6gb Patriot Ram, ATI 5850 1 Gb, Antec 300, F3 1GB HDD, Corsair 24" Dell 2408WFP. Saitek X52 Pro+Rudder, TrackIR4
