Hi all,

I am running a dedicated server under Windows. It has only just been installed last weekend and is showing as up to date. It is running the production version server, not the Open Beta server. Everything is working well, except the WebGUI.

When the dedicated server is started up, it registers with the DCS website, and I can manage it when logged into the site with the account I created for use with the dedicated server.

However, this connection eventually drops off and I can no longer see the dedicated server as available to manage. It just seems to disconnect. I also see that not all of the information is transferred to the DCS website about the server. Please see attached for what I mean there.

When the server disappears from the WebGUI list, the server itself has not crashed, it is still running, and still available if managing from the LocalWebGUI on the server itself.

If the server is restarted by exiting and restarting the DCS process, it registers in WebGUI again for a while.

I have been monitoring firewall logs for dropped traffic between the internal IP of the server and 93.115.211.146 which seems to be the primary DCS IP. Nothing seems to be being blocked and I disabled my Windows firewall on the box for a while for testing with no change in behaviour. If anyone has some clues as to what may cause this symptom, I'd love to know about it. Perhaps it is a known issue, but I haven't managed to read anything.

Otherwise I am happy to continue looking for gaps in my rules. Thanks either way!

Not sure what can cause this strange problem, but definitely cold be related to some traffic restriction of your server.
I can't see any "timeout" or missing information for our 24/7 servers, that has a 6 hours lifespan before each reboot. (screen after 5 hours elapsed)

Did you try to look at DCS.log on your server? Maybe you can find some clue when the master game server lost or drop connection and goes in error.

Thanks for the response. I wasn't sure where the log was. Thanks for mentioning there is one. I am definitely not used to looking under Saved Games to find log files.

Nothing terribly revealing in it. Lots of sound initialization issues on a VM with no sound card that is probably pretty normal, not must about anything else.

I'm running on a Windows Server VM, I might reinstall on a Windows 10 VM since that is the recommended installation platform. Its also running as private at the moment while I mess with it, I would guess that doesn't stop it showing in WebGUI though.

Sound error is quite normal, you can ignore them. Prior the release of dedicated server it will cause some crash and I was usual to install a fake audio card on my server 😄
Also don't worry about OS, I'm running my oldest server on Windows server 2016, and it is really reliable. My new instances will be ( currently one ) on Windows server 2019, again no issues noticed on the WebGUI.

A good thought is the "private" flag, all our servers are listed public, and the "restricted" are public as well but password protected.

Give it a try without using a private flag, but setting a password, and let us know, maybe it's related to this point 😉

That solved it. As soon as I set to public and restarted the server it appeared with server information, we're up to two hours later and it still shows in webconfig on DCS.

Typical, its the easy thing that is to blame. I would have thought a private server would still be internet manageable, just not appearing in the servers list, especially since it does register halfway. But I think I can confirm that it isn't...

I've got ftp uploads to the mods and missions folders for server admins with details, the account used for server admin is a clean account separate from my usual account for management. I see they are looking to let you share server administration properly but haven't yet, so I think that wrapped it up, thanks!

Now I can tighten all the firewall rules I loosened up again.

Server running well now. I further put in:

Overnight reboot on the server VM

Autologin with netplwiz

Scheduled task to run DCS Server at login of user from above

Works a charm.
