I think unless it's your own aircraft, no.

Turning off AB causes a massive signature change IRL.  It's not just the intensity but also the IR spectrum.   I don't know how/if the seeker handles this; I imagine it would but I suspect it is also a weakness for the tracker here.   Obviously the DCS seekers are very simplified with respect to what happens IRL.

I suspect something else is at play here. I mean, I can't prove this 100% at the moment as I would have to do some research on how the IR seekers work in the front-hemisphere.
If they are going dumb 'cause of the AB, this would mean that I can create a script that goes in and out of burner automatically which would make me basically 100% protected from the IR seekers and this kind of sounds odd already.

They lock onto a different IR signature IRL - I mean different wavelength, which is also much less intense.  AB contributes but the fuselage hides most of it (this part is modeled).

AB off at a certain range.  In DCS it's a signature strength change and nothing more.   So, with AB you're at 5, drop AB and you're at 1 and then the seeker can't 'see' the aircraft until it's much closer.   Although TBH at 3-4km it should be fine.  It would just be so marginal at that range.

Of course there could be something else going on instead.

I am not sure if the issue is in net code or what, but it seems that R-73s and R-27Ts in front hemisphere serve no more than decorative purpose.
In the gif you are able to see both of them missing at < 8km for some reason.

In the HUD view you can see me struggling to pick up the target on radar, 'cause for some reason Flanker's radar can't pick up a target at 10-15km distance almost co-alt, and had to go into vertical scan and do aileron rolls.

Can confirm. All this talk about sunlight and stuff is really missing the point. This is 2 simultaneous misses with both side aspect and rear aspect shots.

At least yours tracked initially.

@okopanja and I did some multiplayer tests and so far preliminary conclusion is:
- vs F-16 front aspect shots from below with Archers have much higher rate of failure than when shot from above - regardless of AB and flares

We did not, however, manage to replicate those "dud-straight-of-the-rail" shots that are in my TacViews, even after some 10-15 attempts.
