AI does not accept orders

When the AI announces itself, no orders from me get through. Is there a setting in VAICOM?

Another person (non VAICOM user I think), just started another thread where he complains that wingmen don't respond to commands until they're done with their reporting. So I don't think this is a VAICOM issue, rather how things are queued up in the sim.
I'm seeing this as well. Very annoying.
