Challenging mission 8

Hi all,

First of all I really like this campaign and I am currently at mission 8 so the fun should last a bit. But somehow I am stuck. First of all nearly stuck because the right wheel of my F-5 is in the grass, @SorelRo can you do something about it?

Secondly I am having a very hard time fighting the bombers as intended. Some badass MIG-21 are hunting me down with the sun in their backs. Any help here how I am fighting these communist bastards? They get me always and very fast without me noticing that they fire their missiles. The other F-5 flight is going in low, F-4's are inland...so I am a really good target without support (maybe that's what's intended?)

I'll review it. the plane should start with the wheel in the grass, It's setup to be on a specific parking spot. Probably bug on the ED side. It happened before and they usually adjust them then breaking them again a few months after. I'll shift the parking spot and push it on an update. 

This one shouldn't be too hard. Remember, your AI friends get more heroic when you order "Cover Me". This is about timing, if you maintain your flight integrity and follow your waypoints, as you reach waypoint 3 you should see the contrails of the bombers. that's the moment you slide behind them and shoot them down. After that, if you are brave enough, you can do the tango with the rest of the bombers and Mig-21's and the SAM's, but a safer approach would be to keep your knots up, do a pass or two if you see one of your friendlies cornering a plane on their 6 o'clock and get the heck out of there and fly home. Get down low and head for your base.

I have to say, I'm having the devil of a time finding the bombers. Waypoint 1 is easy enough to hit, if I'm lucky I'll get waypoint 2. (Being in the sea, there are no visual references). The kneeboard says 127 from 1 to 2, but the voice prompt says 135. Getting waypoint 3 is very hit or miss, especially since those four MiG-21s tend to overwhelm my poor wingman whom I sacrifice so I can continue on. I never seem to see any contrails of bombers. There's a recording of someone playing mission 8 on Youtube, but he's flying around at 6kft before he finds some Fitters, so definitely no contrails there. AWACS/Overlord seems of limited help, they give me callouts for every damned thing in the sky every fifteen seconds, so not knowing which group I'm supposed to be following, I tend to ignore it.

I appreciate that there's a "skip mission" option, but I'd really like to shoot down a bomber...

So, the kneeboard is giving your flight plan heading as briefed, Overlord should give you the heading accounting for your tur rate. I'll test this one just to make sure that the AI did not got crazy, and yes, you will be sandwiched between two flights in this one, so, your first pass at the bombers is quite critical, but since it looks like you can't get a visual on them, no wonder you are getting into a lot of trouble. I'll test it and let you know. With the new skip system it is quite easy to go and review a mission that you haven't finished.

Sorry, I may not have been clear. The 'voice prompt' in this case is the scripted talk which triggers when I happen to fly over the waypoint. So I'll get to 1 and it'll say "That SAR Mission was tough, turn to 135". If I hit 2, it'll say 'turn to 115, I don't like being this far behind SAMs' (or whatever). And the few times I hit '3', it's "Turn to 060, here we go, spread out" 

Overlord is next to useless, it calls out every contact flying in the sky and gives me updates for every contact every ten seconds, without giving a clue which one I'm supposed to be paying attention to.

As I look at this chap's replay (Map view at the timestamp), it his timing is such that he gets behind the MiGs before they get to the coast, and has a shot at the Sukhois first. I'm fast enough off the ground that I get to waypoint 1 about a minute behind the F-4s, but the MiGs always get close enough engage.

Yeap, bug confirmed. The active runway changed. Messes up with the rest of the flights timing.

I´m eager waiting for your harrier campaign (I only need to learn how to flight this bird)

I would like to know if you have a hotfix for this mission 8 as in mission 7 as I´m now stuck here.
