LilUziBert_33 Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 Good day all, I would like input on how to tweak settings, both PC and in game, for me to be able to use VR consistently (as i mostly use trackir right now) in DCS. My PC Specs are as follows: MSI B450 gaming plus max 32 GB Ram @3000mhz Ryzen 5 2600x GTX1650 Super 500 gb nvme ssd Oculus Quest 2 (via air link or link cable) I can usually start playing fine for a bit but then after that the game becomes unplayable as the VR picture starts becoming jittery and suttering. Not sure if this is low FPS or something else. I'm currently running DCS 2.7.8.16140 on steam. Any help with this would be great!
The_Nephilim Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 Well with VR Most things are subjective, I can tell you what I have setup on my PC but if you followed suite it may or may not be too your liking.. There are some guidelines to follow. Best thing to do is just setup to in DCS your desired settings and Resolution in VR and try it.. I would definetely advise on the Quest 2 to always use the cable in DCS.. The resolution is not really high so just try defqault res and see how it goes. The key to VR is Patience and some tweaking according to the end user likes.. What setting I like others may say nay to that I like mine high.. so it is very subjective there is no magic setting to say set it like so.. Experiment and be patient with the Process. DCS and VR is not plug and play. once you get it too your liking it may take a few hours ar many hours but try not to over think it.. Also is there anything special (like Oculus tray tool) I need to tweak?

edmuss Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 I think you're likely to be too limited by the GPU. You might be able to play native resolution but in reality your going to have to reduce the resulting to get the frametimes high enough. I ran a reverb g2 on an overclocked 1070 which would be about 30% faster than your GPU but I needed to keep resolution down to 60% to keep frametimes high enough on 60hz setting (which I'm not sure the quest does?) to allow motion smoothing to work. I was roughly getting between 30 and 55 FPS depending on situation but motion smoothing would obviously peg it down to 30fps. That was with most settings on high in dcs though. Also using openvrfsr and kegetys shader mods which made a big difference. edmuss Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 The current version you have to use is here: - https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/183659-vr-shaders-mod-for-better-vr-experience/?do=findComment&comment=4817829 Biggest difference I found with the shader mod was that the filtering on text in the cockpit was much better which allows you to run lower resolutions to improve frametimes. Openvr fsr will improve performance at a slight detriment to visual quality, I was running it at 0.7 render scale. https://github.com/fholger/openvr_fsr Lazy sod Ryzen7 7800X3D / RTX3080ti / 64GB DDR5 4800 / Varjo Aero / Leap Motion / Kinect Headtracking TM 28" Warthog Deltasim Hotas / DIY Pendular Rudders / DIY Cyclic Maglock Trimmer / DIY Abris / TM TX 599 evo wheel / TM T3PA pro / DIY 7+1+Sequential Shifter / DIY Handbrake / Cobra Clubman Seat Shoehorned into a 43" x 43" cupboard.
