-Nighthawk- Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Hey, just a question regarding being outside the KA-50 after ejected. When your outside the KA-50 are you free to move around anywhere (like an FPS) or are you stuck in the same position? And are you able to get back into the KA-50 once outside? thanks
RobGordon Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I think the only way to get outside of the KA-50 is by ejecting (I'm not sure though) so getting back into the helicopter won't be an issue anymore. But after you have landed with your parachute, you can move around. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
kaos.dll Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 But you cannot walk like in a FPS after landing with the parachute. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RobGordon Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Well if what you mean by FPS is running and jumping around, pulling out a 9mm from your holster and shooting nearby ground troops, then that is not possible, that's true, but you ca n walk around, slowly. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Namenlos Ein Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 And when you walking don't forget press Down Arrow Key and watch something like moonwalk.
-Nighthawk- Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 Oh ok, so after landing with the parachute are you able to get back in and start up and continue flying?
sonic Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 No because ejecting breaks the rotor blades. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
-Nighthawk- Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 Damn, so basically the only time you can inspect the aircraft (besides an outside view) is by ejecting and damaging the KA-50 anyway. Any chance of DCS implementing something that allows you to just exit the aircraft without ejecting? Possible in future releases such as the A-10?
Namenlos Ein Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Why for? This is aircraft simulator (or aircrafts in future) not a pilot sim.
Feuerfalke Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Why for? This is aircraft simulator (or aircrafts in future) not a pilot sim. Easy: Because if you fly in Full Real without external views, you will never be able to see the incredible detail of the damage-modell and what wreck you got home. Part of a simulation? No. Important for Immersion? Yes! Even the most hardcore-simulation is still a game, so gameplay-features should not be forgotten and IMHO BS leaves some room for improvement here (just look at the wish-list) ;) (Besides that, how do you modell a plane without modelling the pilot? You have red-outs, grey-outs, head-movements, etc.) MSI X670E Gaming Plus | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 64 GB DDR4 | AMD RX 6900 XT | LG 55" @ 4K | Cougar 1000 W | CreativeX G6 | TIR5 | CH HOTAS (with BU0836X-12 Bit) + Crosswind Pedals | Win11 64 HP | StreamDeck XL | 3x TM MFD

But afterwards you can always watch the track. (Besides that, how do you modell a plane without modelling the pilot? You have red-outs, grey-outs, head-movements, etc.) But I can't remember any serious sim where you was allowed walk around your aircraft for preflight/afterflight check. And ED have a limited resources for realizing such features. In BS in 'walk mode' you can go through objects, sometimes you can walk on the water, and sometimes you can fell through the ground surface. So it walking on your feet looks like funny bonus from developers not more. Edited November 27, 2008 by Namenlos Ein
-Nighthawk- Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 I believe it just adds that extra feel to the realism instead of just randomly starting in an aircraft. I would love a game where you start in a mission briefing (instead of reading the text what the mission tells you to do) then go outside and get into the aircraft

A simple possibility to witch to an outside view, when standing at the ground, even limited to the ground and your aircraft won't use that much resources either, I'm pretty sure.
