Separate 10 Key input

Is there a way to use a separate 10 key pad to assign some functions in VR, with the sim not seeing it as part of the existing keyboard?  I figured with a 10 key I could more easily find things in VR, but when I plug it in the sim just considers it part of my existing keyboard.

Not in DCS. DCS handles keyboards differently than some other apps, so Autohotkey and similar apps have issues. I have circumvented this by using dedicated macro keyboards like Razer's.
