Starfire13 Posted December 22, 2021 Posted December 22, 2021 (edited) Pretty sure I'm just misunderstanding how to do this rather than it being a problem with the mission, but I can't figure out how to proceed after contact with the tanker. I get close enough to recieve this prompt: Next, I move off to starboard. My wingmen disengages from the tanker after a short while. From that point on, I don't get any other instructions on what to do next. If I just fly off towards waypoint 6, the mission fails. Edited December 22, 2021 by Starfire13

As you and your wingman depart from the tanker you should get the final instructions. But first you need to have flown the two fly pasts correctly. Are you sure you have done this? Starfire13 Posted December 23, 2021 Author Posted December 23, 2021 Yeah the two flypasses were performed (the first at 5000 feet, the other at 200 feet), though for the second fly pass, I didn't get the radio message to turn smoke on. I only got the one to turn smoke off (I got both messages for the first fly pass). I don't know if that would afffect anything. I still got radio calls after each one saying the fly pass was a success though.

It’s possible you we’re not directly over the runway at that height but did catch the hand off ATC message trigger. Height is not checked but location is. The requirement is for a low level pass. Not sure the crowds would see your fly past at 5000 feet Also if you didn’t get the second smoke on message it would mean again you were not in the correct position for your line up. No one has raised this issue to date but I will check it out and report. Suggest you fly again but use low level passes say 500 feet and make sure you fly accurately. Hope this helps Badger633 F/A-18C Campaigns : The Serpent’s Head / The Serpent’s Head 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5.0Ghz / Gigabyte 2080ti water force extreme / 32 Gb RAM Corsair Dominator Platinum 3600 / 2Tb Samsung 970 Evoplus NVMe M.2 / Thrustmaster Warthog Hotas / Thrustmaster Pedals / Valve Index.
Starfire13 Posted December 23, 2021 Author Posted December 23, 2021 Ah. I stuck to 5000 feet for the first fly pass cos I saw that the kneeboard had listed 500 feet for the second one, but not for the first, so I figured I was supposed to stick to 5000 feet. I'll give that a try. Thanks. As for the missing the smoke on radio call, my usual practice is to begin turning towards the next waypoint when I am about 5 miles out from my current target waypoint, as that allows me enough space to do a nice wide turn rather than having to crank myself around. Perhaps this is what is causing me to miss the triggers. I'll wait till I am closer before turning.

Hi No you should be carrying out two low fly pasts at say 500 feet.( This will ensure you are quite close to the runway). I can see what you mean how this could be misinterpreted. I will make that more clear in a future update. Thanks for picking that up. Regarding the way point turns, yes 5 miles is too far out to get good lines. In fact there are radio messages from Ford to his wingman when to start to take the turns. These about 3 miles out, just fly to the way point until you get those messages. Try this and all should be well. Let me know if you still have an issue and I will check fly it myself. Starfire13 Posted December 23, 2021 Author Posted December 23, 2021 Thanks, Badger. I ended skipping past that mission yesterday as I wanted to try the stuff after that. Had no troubles with missions 2, 3, or 4. Thank you for the clarification about when to turn. I'll be sure to get in closer and make tighter turns from now on. I have to say I really like your campaign. If there's one nitpick I have, it's the lack of frequency switching when moving from area to area. I realise you're probably doing this to ease workload on the player, but it would actually be nice if say, the airfield were on preset channel 2 and the Abe was on preset channel 3 or something like that, and the player has to actually switch preset channels to contact different people.

Hi Starting to work on next campaign. This will require frequency changes.
