Change windows speech language without changing display language

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if there's any way to set the speech recognition language to English while keeping the display text in Spanish in Windows.

Best regards,

Yes, that is possible, under time and language.

Thanks.

I changed it but now the Windows Speech Recognition doesn't open showing an error that says the speech and display languages must match. However, Vaicom still works as intended although as Windows Speech Recognition refuses to open, the voice training environment doesn't work.

Has a restart already been made?

Microphone must also be re-set up in the Windows speech recognition program.

Finally, I would recommend creating a new profile, in Windows Control Panel under Advanced speech options.

Yes, I restarted. I will try your tips, thanks!

But I think that Windows just refuses to open the speech recognition program if your speech language is different to the display language.

Correct. Especially if your display language doesn't have a corresponding speech language.
Let's say your display language is Norwegian, you must install i.e. the English language pack, enable it. Log off/on, (don't think restart is necessary), setup Speech Recognition, (I agree, make a new special profile for the microphone). Do the training. Set VA to English. Make sure everything works. Set display language back to Norwegian. Log off/on.
VoiceAttack/VAICOM should still work, but to do changes to the Speech Recognition/Dictionary etc. one must repeat the process.

Yeah that's what I thought. In my case my main language is Spanish which is supported by speech recognition but it gives troubles with some commands although I realised that if I pronounce  the command like I would in Spanish and say the numbers in said language it recognises it.

In any case it is better to have it in English of course and it is good to know that workaround.
