I was just playing one of the missions, and messing about with Data Link in sending targets to my AI wingmen and sending them off to vectors etc while in auto hover. Now, I tried locking up targets of my own in auto hover, had master arm on, laser tracking and missiles selected but wasn't getting 'c' to fire beyond ranges of 6k which is not right for Vikhr AGTM. This range also wouldn't allow me to fire at 4. Now I tried numerous times resetting the firing system and turning it back on, but always ended up with the same result even if the target was locked up with 'TA'. (I.e, I aligned the two circles but the crosshairs just wouldn't change). Ekran was showing 'perfrom nav fix' but this has never given me this issue before.. what's going on here?

There is no jammer. The Vikhr is very difficult if not dowright impossible to jam.

Without a track it's not possible to tell what happened.

Ok, here's another track. Either it's having the auto hover on that does this or a combo of using the Data link etc. If someone could give me a hand here it would really help. (Never mind that I get shot down by a tank in the end :D ) You can tell when I'm having issues because I start flicking the master arm, resetting everything and aside from that, the HMS should have changed at the point I'm targetting.

Hi,

do you have your your "Measurment Settings" as "Metric" or "Imperial" ? Imperial would mean 6 miles and that might be too far out.

Kind regards,

I've watched your track and made conclusion that your targeting procedure was flawed.

Why are you using flight director mode while you are hovering and using Shkval? It seems that you are loosing a lot of time just for placing targeting circles right. Use hover mode. It combined with auto-turn to target button will make corrections with pedals almost unnecessary.

If you are hovering and target is out of range, then turn hover mode off, push cyclic a little bit, decrease range to target, pull cyclic to slow down to zero, engage hover mode again, fire.

Hi,

I have run across this problem myself but for other reasons, My altitude being to high and even though I can laser lock I could not get a "C" for missle release even when the circles were lined up, what I did was on the weapons panel in front of the cyclic I put it in manual mode, tilted the bird with director flight mode to get the circles close and fired the missile, I am averaging about 98% hit rate doing it this way. Good hunting.
