Chimplicker Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 I'm not sure if anyone else experiences this but its bugging the life out of me. When I first load into DCS and onto a server I get lovely smooth VR performance, its next to perfect without any tearing, hesitation and FPS issues. However as I get shot down and respawn it gets progressivly slower and choppier, by the 4th respawn I have to close DCS entirely and load it up again. Its like there is a memory leak or something. PC Specs: AMD 5900x 3080 GPU 32 gig 3600MHz Ram Installed on an NVME and a large Pagefile setup. Does anyone else experience this? Is there a fix or if it is a memory leak would throwing another 32gigs of RAM into the system be a short term fix?
winghunter Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 yep, memory leak or something lowering texture res and uninstalling shader mods helped me. It still happens but far less often. Chimplicker Posted February 23, 2022 Author Posted February 23, 2022 Ahhh ok I'll make the adjustments suggested. Hopefully its something they resolve in upcoming updates.
Viper ZA Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 I have the same problem. Plays fine until I respawn. Sometimes it's not to bad if I stick to the same module, but changing module and I get like single digit frames. and long loading times. Rebooting is annoying even if I am using a high speed NVME.
Chimplicker Posted February 23, 2022 Author Posted February 23, 2022 Aye restarting is just annoying for me, I have my PC connected to the Telly so if the wifes watching TV I have to launch into VR blind.
edmuss Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 Turning HAGS on pretty much eliminates this for me Ryzen7 7800X3D / RTX3080ti / 64GB DDR5 4800 / Varjo Aero / Leap Motion / Kinect Headtracking TM 28" Warthog Deltasim Hotas / DIY Pendular Rudders / DIY Cyclic Maglock Trimmer / DIY Abris / TM TX 599 evo wheel / TM T3PA pro / DIY 7+1+Sequential Shifter / DIY Handbrake / Cobra Clubman Seat Shoehorned into a 43" x 43" cupboard.
Chimplicker Posted February 23, 2022 Author Posted February 23, 2022 I've turned HAGS back on, I will test it later today, would be great if it did fix the issue. 1
edmuss Posted February 23, 2022 Posted February 23, 2022 (edited) Note that in some instances HAGS can have a negative impact as well, off the top of my head I think don't think it plays nicely with the WMR/steamvr smoothing unless force dx11 is turned on. The other alternative is to pause and alt tab till the frametimes settle down but that can take between 10 seconds and 5 minutes, it's also a temporary fix and the problem often reoccurs.... edit: just did a couple of quick and dirty tests with HAGS on in conjunction with the force DX11 settings. It seems that the WMR motion smoothing on auto does work happily with HAGS now (could have been a steamvr update fixed it) with DX11 forced both on and off, I do seem to get about 1ms lower frametimes with DX11 forced on though. Chimplicker Posted February 24, 2022 Author Posted February 24, 2022 Tried it with HAGS back on, didn't see any worse performance but it also had the same problem. I did have some luck with the Alt-Tab method though, no idea why that would work but it did.
edmuss Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 Assuming that you did restart your machine to set HAGS, hooray for VR Did you test both DX11 forced on and off? Chimplicker Posted February 24, 2022 Author Posted February 24, 2022 Yes I performed a reboot but I didn't force DX11. Wish they would hurry up with Vulcan support.
