Question about PNVS, TADS and sighting cameras in DCS in general.

I found that the PNVS and Tads, like the SHKVAL on the KA50, changes in contrast and brightness when looking at things at different distances. Is that true to the real life counterpart? Or is this a bug that ED cannot fix?

I think a lot of work from ED and the SMEs was going into the FLIR system. But it is still WiP i guess (EA and beta version an such... mentioning againandagainandagain).

As far as i can tell, yes, optical zoom (versus digital) will alter how the camera recepts the wavelength of the infrared light (short version ^^).

Most new IR cameras n such can automatically adjust the effect. You can even see it in youtube videos when they zoom in, the brightness/contrast will change automatically.

TBH sometimes i find the effect in DCS AH64D is pretty strong.

I find IR changing drastically when looking at different azimuths to be quite odd. If surfaces were highly reflective (ocean, glass, etc.) then I'd understand but most of terrain is specular. Looking east or north shouldn't be in general like night and day difference.
