Murphyd Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Apologies if this has been answered definitively elsewhere but having read 20+ pages of previous posts relating to multiple displays and doing countless experiments myself, I still don't know if this particular combination is possible. My exact set up is: Vista Ultimate 64 bit ATI Radeon 4870 (latest 8.12 drivers) 1 x Samsung 226BW (1680x1050) Panel (Primary Camera) 1 x Viewsonic VX922 (1280x1024) Panel (ABRIS/Shkval) Black Shark - International (English) I have read about and tried carefully to duplicate suggested settings based around the 2MonitorTest.lua script (combined with the appropriate changes to Options.lua) and so far have failed to get anything to display on my second panel. My main question is whether or not this particular combination of hardware/OS can be made to work and if so, can anyone give me some tips? Thanks in advance -- Murphy
Mxyzpylk Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Hardware definitely is not a problem. I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 and a Radeon 4870 1GB. Have you set the second monitor up in Vista or ATI CCC? If not, you need to do that first. I'm not at my home computernow and probably won't be able to help anymore until tomorrow afternoon USA eastern time.
Murphyd Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 Hi Mx, Yes, I have both displays configured and working fine in Vista. Monitor 1 is set as my primary. Screenshots included. I look forward to hearing from you tomorrow :) -- Murphy
Koriel Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 I have vista x64 and a 4870x2, on my rig it works just fine. I have to set it up again with the english version of BS, it worked fine on the russian one. I had to change a couple of file however. Please do a search on my name and you'll find he thread I posted in to describe how I did it.
Murphyd Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 Hi Koriel, Thanks for the reply. I have however already been through the thread* you mention (all 19 pages) and the thread** over at SimHQ. *http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=32630 **http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2621999/3.html To date, I have tried numerous iterations of the 2MonitorTest.lua script and Options.lua. At no point have I seen anything displayed on the second screen (other than the windows backdrop and whatever happened to be there when I started the game). When I edited 2MonitorTest to overlay the ABRIS and Shkval on my main screen, they appeared there fine but of course completely obscured the cockpit. I was interested to note that changes in-game to my display options were not being saved to my Options.lua file i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts\options.lua After a lot of digging around, I finally found the real options.lua file here: C:\Users\Murphy\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\data\scripts\options.lua I did have the Russian version installed previously which I uninstalled before installing the International version. I wonder if this might have any bearing on things? -- Murphy
Mxyzpylk Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 (edited) Murphyd, How about posting your options.lua and 2monitortest.lua so we can help set it up for you. Did you just install the english version over the russian? I renamed the russian folder 1C_1 and then installed the english download version to the default directory. So far no problems Edited December 20, 2008 by Mxyzpylk
Murphyd Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 Hi Mx, I've just done a complete uninstall/reinstall to eliminate the possibility of Russian vs. International conflicts and am in the process of reconstructing my 2MonitorTest.lua and options.lua files. I will post an update in about 15 minutes :) -- Murphy
Murphyd Posted December 20, 2008 Author Posted December 20, 2008 Success! Turns out it was something to do with the installation. I reckon I must have installed straight over the Russian version but just chose a different directory. Having cleaned out and reinstalled everything, my second screen has sprung into life. I now have what seems to be a working camera view on my main monitor and the ABRIS/Shkval showing on the second  Thanks for the offers of help and for documenting your findings in the other thread. -- Murphy

airea Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 How does the TrackIR behave with 2 monitor setups? It should move in 6 dof in the main camera monitor but it should not change the view for the Shkval monitor... Does it do like that?
