My problem is that the pedals on the rudder axis are not being centred when released in dcs.

They return a bit to the right, so in game i always have a "bit" of right rudder input.:crash:

The weird thing is that Windows shows the pedals correctly centred when not being pressed.

Is it possible to define a new centre for the rudder axis ?

Or is there a trim option for only the rudder ?

Please help. Thanks

Solved. Deleted the registry items for the saitek rudder pedals and re-plugged them and all works ok so far.

nice!

I havent had any problems with my Saitek pedals and centering, though I do have to frequently check with Alt-enter to see where I am trimmed.

Someone needs to come out with a good , modernforce feedback HOTAS and Pedal set .. surely if DCS's popularity shows anything, is that there is a market for this stuff (even if it costs a few hundred $$'s)

Well, you can set the deadzone of the panels in the windows control panel and also in the ingame settings.

No need to delete anything unless there's a hardware error.

also, did you try going to

controls

ka 50 real axis commands

flight control rudder

axis tune panel

and click 'slider'?

the guide says that this should cure automatic centering of rudder pedals

my prob is that my rudder pedals keep getting overuled and the sim stops recognizing them after a few trys. any suggestion?

MainSail...could you tell us step by step what you did to fix your problem. I messed with the in game controls for hours last night...it either pulls to the left or the right...just won't center..very frustrating for take offs...

As usual click on the magical red square to go to the original topic the quote is from.

Remember that in case of using stick with rudder pedals you have to center both to regain control after trimming. Check if your center is solid when you have your hand relaxed on the stick / hold your feet on your rudder pedals. The best (and simple!) tool to test it is DIView.

If the center is not right then you should re-calibrate the controls. Recalibrating Saitek controls usually involves registry editing so let us know if you really need to proceed that way.

...

Recentering in the windows callibrration utility usually does nothing. Besides, if you have the Saitek drivers installed you should not have axes to calibration at all.

Manual re-calibration of Saitek self centering joysticks:

- disconnect the controllers

- navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\DirectInput

- back it up just in case

- delete all the VID_* keys, unless you use JoyID application to determine which key is for affected controller

- re-connect your controller and do some full range motions

Saitek sticks are self-calibrating although you can manually delete calibration data from the registry:

1. Disconnect your stick from USB

2. Use windows registry editor to navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\DirectInput (Windows 7 and probably vista too ; XP has the data in another place!)

3. Delete all the keys with VID_* name

4. Connect your stick back and move it in all of its range (for all axes incl. throttles) to renew the calibration data

That is if re-calibration is needed. You don't need it yet, as I see. Both roob's suggestions are correct. First confirm that your stick is working properly in control panel (Windows 7 / Vista: Devices and Printers - rightclick on your stick - Game controller settings). If yes than you certainly don't need re-calibration. Then confirm in-game if you have the right joystick axes set for the right axes in-game. Then report back with details.

Thanks for the info! So if the pedals are working fine in windows, I don't need to recalibrate? This is an in game problem? If so...what am I doing wrong? Do I just need to center all axis in game and use a dead zone to keep them from being too sensitive?

Thanks again and sorry if these seem like stupid questions.

You don't need to recal. Make sure again that they do work fine in windows though.

This is an in game problem?

In-game or an misunderstanding on your part, e.g. you probably haven't understood the proper use of the trimmer.

If so...what am I doing wrong?

Send a short track file, BS 1.0.2, that depicts the problem. Do the flight with controls indicator enabled.

You don't do axis centering in-game, AFAIK. Also don't ever use dead zone unless you got your stick ran over by a train. Or two. Use curvature instead.

Again thanks....this begs the question..how do I trim on the ground? I hope I'm not the only one with this problem...I hate to think our boys actually flying the planes are wrestleing them down the runway like I seem to have to do...
