TrackIR 6 dof question

I have the 3pro and i havent been using it for ages (nor playing in general bouhouhou ...) and i also have my 6dof activation code but haven't tested it yet.

 

I was wondering, does 6dof work with just three NP reflective stickers dots placed lets say on a hat? judging from the looks of the clip and clip pro, i was thinking of just adding two NP reflective dots on my NP hat above its central reflective spot instead of getting the odd looking clip (i dont like it one bit) nor the clip pro (i hate that its working with a wire)

The clip, and clip pro are designed with a specific configuration, so placing dots on a hat, can cause erratic tracking.
