Guard72nd Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Hello. During the process of creating a new logbook profile, and deleting the old one, the sim locked up, and had to be killed via taskmanager. Now when I try to start the sim, i get the error message: blackshark\modules\me_logbook.lua:141: attempt to index field 'player' (a nil value) I looked inside the lua file, but I am far from proficient enough with code to understand much of whats in there. Is there anything I can do, or do I have to waste a deactivation/reactivation on a reinstall? Help would be appreciated, cheers. Guard
Grodin Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 I can send you a working one in 9 hours when i get home if someone doesn't get to you before that :) One thing you could try is delete that logbookfile and hope it generates a new one, it does that to some files but i have no idea if it works on this. Guard72nd Posted December 25, 2008 Author Posted December 25, 2008 Thanks for the speedy reply bud. I tried getting a me_logbook.lua file from a mate, but I got the same error message with that one. I'm gonna try and move my file out of there and see if it generates a new one. EDIT: Tried removing it, but that only generates a new error message about it not being there, hehe. Cheers. Guard.
Grodin Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 If a new fixed file also causes the problem... i would look into another issues. I can't recall wich file this one is, is it the one where your pilot details are stored? If not, you might have something wrong in that file instead... or something... could be anything up to maybe os privilages or something else tricky.. Guard72nd Posted December 25, 2008 Author Posted December 25, 2008 It looks like the me_loogbook.lua mostly has to do with the structure and function of the logbook part of the sim? There's lots of code in there, but I can't find any spesific reference to any player names. Yeah, I guess there could be a "player" file or something, but I can't find anything by that name in the folder. Perhaps it's a missing file, and I would not know which one it is, since it's missing.

Perhaps it's a missing file, and I would not know which one it is, since it's missing. If you do a search in your DCS folder for "logbook" youll find all of them... the one where your pilot details are stored might have gone bad when something happened on that pilot deletion.. Youll recognize the file you want by searching it for stuff like "dead", "kill", "name" and "awards"and whatever stuff that logbook stores ^^ If that Me_LogBook tries to do some stuff to your pilots logs, read it and change its format to show it on gui or whatever it does, could cause that error pointing you mistakenly to this wrong logbook file instead while the real problem is in your pilots logs that went bad on this deletion.... This is all very random but oh well ^^ Edited December 25, 2008 by Grodin Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity.
Guard72nd Posted December 25, 2008 Author Posted December 25, 2008 Found something now, called players.lua. That one seems to be empty, and I'm willing to bet that is my problem. Gonna try to get a new one of those, and see. Thanks for the help.

Guard72nd Posted December 25, 2008 Author Posted December 25, 2008 And that one solved the problem. I deleted it, and this one did actually generate and let me start the sim. Wohoo, and thanks. Now back to learning how to fly the damn thing :)

Guard72nd Posted December 25, 2008 Author Posted December 25, 2008 Yeah, revenge from beyond the grave. (Cue horror flick violins) :D
Boberro Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 OMG it is many threads about same problem... Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Grodin Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 OMG it is many threads about same problem... Well, many threads, 1 to be exact, and only result there was complete re-install... So i see this as advancement ^^ Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity.
