Mission Editor Not showing Objects when Creating a Mission

When I Create a mission  and select and place an object on the map ,for example a static plane or vehicle , it does not show the object only the symbol.

All the tutorials I have watched show the object appearing as soon as it is placed.

I have just purchased the Super aircraft carrier and when I select and place it it only shows the symbol and not the carrier itself .Therefore I can not fit the carrier out for service .

Can you help .

Bottom toolbar. You will see an icon on the end that looks like a tank. Tooltip will be 'Show Models'. Will show models if zoomed in enough.
