Hi. Yesterday I fought on the F-5E against the bot on the F-14A from Heatblur.

The bot flew 2 times through my long bursts of shells from nose to tail without significant damage. 10-20 total hits by 20mm cannons. Didn't even smoke!

Sometimes the F5 vs F14 fights look so stupid that when you shoot, it seems like you are playing some kind of arcade game. That is, you need to hit, hit and hit again in order to at least slightly damage the F-14.

Compared to other aircraft, I feel tomcats increased survivability!

Heatblurs Tomket definitely needs to reduce survivability, this is not an armored vehicle or a tank. This is a  complicated aircraft in which everywhere important systems.

That ... is not true. We did not nor would increase survivability. It is also a very tanky aircraft, but a burst anywhere to the fuselage should do in most parts catastrophic damage, especially around the engines. Show us a track please.

Out of curiosity I tried a gun fight vs an AI F-14.  It only took me 15 hits from a 70 round burst to take out the other F-14.  I've had a lot more issues taking out MiG-21's.  It seems like you can just pepper those thing with shells and maybe they will only start smoking a bit.

This is also my experience, and certainly how it should be.

the only possibility I can think of is that the F-5Es cannons have a much lower rate of fire then the M-61 in the 'cat.  Maybe OP didn't hit it as much as they thought they did?

Possibly. Just tested myself in the F-5 and looks fine. both with aim9s and gun. First 2 pics are with aim9, second 2 with gun. (also attached the tacview for the gun kill)
