KuostA Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 I just watched this (http://www.checksix-fr.com/downloads/lockon/videos/HelloKill.wmv) video and That brings me to a question; It is already known the AI will have updated damage effects/models where respective peices will each catch fire, be hit, seperate, fall away and burn to the ground ect. However, the generall idea has always been towards Fighter AI and such. The damage models of the "other" AI such as Helos, heavy transport aircraft, and bombers has never really been talked about, with nonetheless, any videos or screenies showing them. So, Will the "other" AI planes incorporate such udpated effects? Based upon this video, it seems The damage effect for the helo is exactly the same. -Thanks in Advance
bflagg Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Please forgive me, but why do you guys call wings falling off "AI". This is nothing more than ..register hit here, show this bitmap..... AI is when something acts directly against you..... I've seen multiple posts with the same reference as Kuoster ... and to me it doesn't match what I know about AI. Thanks, Brett
jeroen79 Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 He doesn't call "wings falling off AI". He wants to know if AI controlled planes/helos/thingies will have a more detailed damagemodel. Instead of speaking of "AI controlled planes/helos/thingies" he just calls them "AI", which is a bit shorter. But his message is clear to me.
Nasder Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 A rather good question. I have one that will fit into this aswell I think. In 1.02 and earlier the "flightmodel" for AI were rather strange, they always flew with 0 pitch when straight while I had a pitch of let's say 7 to maintain my alltitude due to low speed. This does not include my wingmen, they were kind of glued to me, they flew like I flew, the same AOA and so on. But other AI flights always flew pitch 0 when straight, even a fully loaded SU-33 flying close to 300 (not knots). So the AI SU-33 flew straight but had it's canards pointing slightly downwards kind of if the AOA was calculated but not followed. Is this only happens to me, and if not, will it be updated in 1.1? /Nasder, "I came, I saw, I got shot down."

Jeroen79, I know what he was alluding to, but I still find it confusing when folks keep suggesting that such a damage model is a AI, when it's not. I AM NOT try to start anything, just talk POV as it should be in forums.. Thanks, Brett
KuostA Posted February 18, 2005 Author Posted February 18, 2005 Nvm...question answered with this shot: I was just asking if the advanced/revised Damage model has been applied to ALL AI aircraft instead of just the A2A fighters. All the screenies so far only showed fighter jet aircraft and no Helicopters, transports, or bombers.
