I'd like to see some improvements to how AI land at airbases. I'm not sure if this is less of a problem with moden aircraft, but for WW2 types it nice to launch large waves and fill the sky for furballs but upon return they bunch up in a holding patten taking forever to land, or crash while waiting. Some airbases even have more than one runway which go unused for both takeoffs and landings.

No it has pretty much been a problem since the beginning. AI won't land if another flight are set to take-off, which is why everyone orbits while the two aircraft on the deck get airborne. Once the airbase is clear for use the orbiting aircraft will land based on if an opening exists and the first aircraft to cross a given threshold to commence.

Perhaps changes will occur whenever the ATC comms for airbases get updated. 

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
