About 40% of the time I go to launch a mission I get a DCS.exe crash. It doesn't matter what mission I choose or how I launch it (from editor, from campaign, etc.). I've attached a few of the most recent crash files but it seems they all point to the same problem.

I'm running on WinXP Pro with SP 3.

Are you overclocking? If so' date=' go back to stock settings and try again.[/quote']

I've gotten this with the video card overclocked and at stock settings. As for the CPU, it's overclocked as well but it has passed very exhaustive testing without a hitch. Thanks for the suggestion though!

With the CPU overclocked, you might get stable performance in some applications but not others. The way to really find out is to run something like Stress Prime for 24 hours. If you have 0 errors, then your overlock should be solid.

Hi

I have the same problem, I'm betting that it's StarForce that's causing the problem, as i can see in my Vista Problem Report that it lists "Fault Module Name: protect.dll" now as far as i can tell this is all part of the StarForce protection.

I'm wondering if anyone else sees the same problem?

I've no idea how to fix it, just hope that the developers see this and can fix it.

I've noticed that running the protrct.exe to activate/deactivate BlackShark seems to be missing the config options that are shown on the Starforce website. I was hoping to update the starforce driver, but can't without these options.

Sorry i'm not much help

Well thats not always the case.

I had mine E8400 running prime at 4.0gig for 12H (ok not 24h) with no problems.

But BS didn't run stable enough. Random crashes (not the heli, but the pc) while in flight.

Probably it needs some more tuning for the gpu.

But it runs fine at 3.6gig.

Win10-X64, I5,-8600K oc-4,8Ghz, 16GB DDR4, MSI RTX 2080ti, HOTAS Warthog, MFG crosswind pedals, KW-908 Jetseat , HTC Vive with lens mod.

I have run SP2004 Orthos (the tool you are recommending) to stress test the CPU. I'm not sure how long I ran it for. It was not 24 hours but was more than 12 and had no problems.

Well, since you're seeing a difference with your overclock settings I'll try lowering my CPU overclock later today to see if it make a difference and will keep you posted.

If you really want to stress test your cpu / ram get your self a copy of

intel burn test

It will make your cpu heat up like no other utility , half an hour of it is like

hours of orthos / prime

Its far faster at telling you if something is up
