Kappa-131st Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 (edited) Some bots already exist as overlord. But it would be interesting that DCS natively incorporates a voice recognition program that allows the player to program responses, or even create variables. For example, to get coordinates of targets send by radio by a player to make a vec2 that can be used on lua function! Combined with a text to speech, the player could interact with the ai vocally by radio, give order, do a reconnaissance mission, or a asking for an artillery shoot. We can programm JTAC easly. It would be a "gamechanger" feature for dynamic mission! Edited August 11, 2022 by Kappa-131st 6
WHOGX5 Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 This should definitely be a thing. There are multiple games from well over a decade ago that actually had functional voice recognition that worked quite reliably. I can just imagine what would be possible today with neural voice recognition combined with high quality microphones. Just a month ago, OpenAi released Whisper; an open source, multilingual voice recognition software. It is incredibly impressive and can recognize speech in real time from extremely low quality audio with a very high accuracy. Whisper, or something like it, should be seriously considered by ED. 2 1 -Col. However, if it's coming for you, it doesn't make you feel too good, but it does rearrange your priorities." twistking Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 yes, this would be a gamechanger. an environment like DCS should make it relatively easy for voice reckognition, since you can easily force players to adhere to certain predefined phrases to communicate with AI and there is no need for the AI to decipher colloquial speech or similar. i think there is a very good speech reckognition in windows that can be utilized by third party programms and i think it's free to use even... 3 My improved* wishlist after a decade with DCS *now with 17% more wishes compared to the original
Kappa-131st Posted December 29, 2022 Author Posted December 29, 2022 Yes, it will be a gamechanger functionnality!
