haigotron Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Hello, Are there any pictures of what the APU on the Ka-50 looks like in real life? And where is it exactly positioned on the helicopter? Also, does it have it's own exhaust? I can hear it turning the engines, but I dont see it's exhaust from anywhere. Also what does that truck provide to the APU? fuel? electricity? Just curious :D I understand what an APU is, but I wanted to know what the Ka-50's looks like specifically. Thanks :D
haigotron Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 Aha! I see here in the diagram on the website that it is internal to the helicopter and probably not at all visible from the outside, so I guess no RL photos of it? http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?lang=en&end_pos=1630
nightlynx Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Don't want to hijack but I also had a question about the APU. Does the APU have to be running in order to start a shutdown engine even if the other engine is on and running?

AlphaOneSix Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 (edited) Hello, Are there any pictures of what the APU on the Ka-50 looks like in real life? And where is it exactly positioned on the helicopter? Also, does it have it's own exhaust? It's mounted sideways toward the back of the aircraft. I've attached a screenshot showing the exhaust. I believe it glows red when it is running. For pics of the real thing, you can go here. Edited December 31, 2008 by AlphaOneSix
mvsgas Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 You can see it in the manual, page 1-3, POWER PLANT AND ROTOR SYSTEM Photo 1-3 :D To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
