Urban-Fighter Posted August 15, 2022 Posted August 15, 2022 Hello, I really enjoy the campaign but have one question. Is it possible, that the vortex is always on in the campaign? I have it off in the DCS settings and manage to refuel midair in the training missions and other campaigns (e.g. Raven One). But in this campaign I get thrown around as soon as I close in to the tanker due to his vortex. So I really struggle refueling and most times don´t get it done or manage just to get a few drops. I know there is a "easy" version where you don´t even have to plug in. But it´s not satisfying and I don´t even know how the fuel issue might be solved on long missions. And I get the vortex trouble there as well. So is it possible to get rid of the vortex and take over the setting of the game itself? Thank you very much in advance and kind regards, Marco

Make sure you have selected in settings that your settings are to take priority and try switching off vortex. It shouldn't be a problem though. The vortex are coming off the wing tips. Try making your approach for a good distance back between the wing tips. You can also try staying low out of his slip stream and slowly rise up when close , but stay between wingtips. I very rarely get thrown around as long as you stick to the above. Urban-Fighter Posted August 15, 2022 Author Posted August 15, 2022 Hi Badger633, thank you for your quick response. I think I have all the setting mentioned (see screenshot, but it´s in german). I will try your technique but to be honest, I trained the whole afternoon already in a training mission with vortex on and even being close to the basket, my plane starts moving so I have to push the stick constantly to one direction to stay wings level. But thanks anyway. And if you find a setting in the camapign maybe it´s something for a future update. Marco

When on the basket or very close you should not be experiencing a lot of vortex effects. If you are constantly having to move the stick in one direction it is probably your trim is out. This could be if you have used some of the weapons and are heavier on one side. You must trim before you even approach the tanker so you can fly straight and level hands off. You will also need to fine tune your trim as your speed reduces to the tankers. Also in A2A refuel you will always have to be making slight adjustments with column and throttle to keep in formation with the tanker that is normal. If it is constantly in one direction then your trim is out. Urban-Fighter Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 (edited) I was perfectly trimed out but there was an update, which was rolling the plane due to the wake even if between the wig tips (perfectly explained here: https://youtu.be/J-JqScSINSA). So from now on, the goal is to close in beneath the tanker and then rising up slowly as you already mentioned. I repeated this prodedure a few times and am able to refuel again. Thank you and now I can fully enjoy your campaign again.. Edited August 19, 2022 by Urban-Fighter

It's OK if they don't respond 80 miles out, but they SHOULD respond 20 miles out. If one contacts them before, they never ever respond after <- bug Roger. Urban-Fighter Posted October 5, 2022 Author Posted October 5, 2022 Hey Badger633, meanwhile I completed your campaign and I really want to thank you! For me, this campaign is one of the best on the market. Even this tanking "issue" made me a better pilot. So keep up your good work and your passion and I´m looking forward to the "Rise of the persion lion 2". It will be an instant buy! kind regards, Marco
